Hello World! Welcome Friends! For many religious households, finding décor which signifies faith is important. For Christianity and Judaism, for instance, the home plays a central role in religious observance, and it has its own unique sanctity when it comes to prayer and living by the scriptures.
It is not easy, however. There is always a balancing act between faithful décor and décor, which – quite simply – looks nice and works within the aesthetics of the home.
This is why finding the right religious décor is a challenge, but it is not a challenge that has to be difficult. At the moment, one of the ways in which many families are celebrating their faith is by incorporating pieces of the scripture in a subtle way throughout their home design.
These serve as a constant reminder of the values of the religion but are integrated sleekly around the home so that they match the overall aesthetics. If you are interested in this and would like a few examples, here are some of the best ways that scripture is being integrated:
Tableware
With food playing an important part in many religious ceremonies, the dining space has become one of the most spiritual places in any religious home. This is why you will see scripture being integrated into tableware, with anything from a banquet plate to a silver kiddush cup having important parts of text inscribed into the metal.
Picture Frames
Another popular way to integrate scripture into home design is through pieces of art that can be placed anywhere around the house. These are either pieces of art that have religious text infused into the scene or simply a blank canvas with a poignant part of the scripture written over the top. This can be a great option if you have children, as you can ask them which parts of the scripture they relate to the most and have it printed out for their bedroom, making a piece of religious décor unique and specific to them.
Furniture
There are also plenty of ways in which you can infuse scripture into the furniture itself. This can be done with plush pillows or even throws which have parts of the scripture knitted into the fabric. It is important with any décor effect that it works with the colors of the room and doesn’t clash with the pattern of the fabric, so take extra care if you want to try out this option.
Mezuzahs
Looking specifically at the Jewish faith, mezuzahs are the ultimate way to incorporate scripture into the household. They are designed to sit above every door frame and are an indicator of God’s protection throughout the home. Thankfully, there are a number of artists who create beautiful, unique mezuzah cases, so take a look around online and find something that perfectly suits the home you are decorating.
Prayer Board
Lastly, a prayer board is one of the most beautiful and meaningful ideas when it comes to incorporating scripture into the home. If you place one in the living room and the text of your religion underneath, you can write the names of everyone you wish to pray for on the board and be reminded to do just that whenever you enter the room.
