Hello World! Welcome Friends! Everyone undoubtedly has a particular look they want to achieve for their living rooms. For example, some folks might want a contemporary modern style, while others may prefer a more traditional or rustic theme.
Another popular living room style is the minimalist look. It’s a brilliant way to make any small living room appear bigger and helps to keep any unneeded items or “stuff” out of sight. If that’s a look you want to achieve with your living room, here’s what you need to do:
Get Rid of Any Junk
The first thing you need to do is remove anything that doesn’t have an explicit reason to be in the living room. For example, a sofa or couch makes sense in your living room, but piles of newspapers and magazines should get recycled.
It’s arguably one of the most time-intensive tasks to complete. But, it boasts the most impact as the results are visible immediately. When you clear away anything that shouldn’t be in your living room, you’ll likely have three separate piles of items:
- Things to throw away or recycle;
- Things to sell or give away;
- Things that belong in other areas of your home.
Only leave items that have a proper place in your living room and serve specific functions in there.
Use White as Your Primary Color
Another way to successfully achieve the minimal look in your living room is by sticking with white and similarly light-colored shades. You’d use white and other light colors for your walls, ceilings, and living room furniture, such as your TV unit and sofa.
You may even decide to go so far as to ensure your TV and other electronic equipment are also white or a shade similar to it.
Add Some Indoor Plants
You’ve probably got a few plants growing outdoors in your backyard, but have you got any indoor plants inside your home? It’s worth populating your living room with some greenery for a few reasons.
Firstly, some choice indoor plants in your living room break up the sea of white and similar tones. Secondly, plants promote increased wellness and improve indoor air quality. Lastly, plants can transform any living room into a feature room of your home!
Add a Few Bold Colors
If you don’t like the idea of having almost everything in your living room white, what you could do is add a few bold colors into the mix. Doing so helps break up the uniform look of your color scheme and creates new focal points in your living room.
For example, you could have a bookshelf with some books that have colorful spines. You may even decide to add small, colorful items like photo frames or floating bookshelves to break up an otherwise white living room.
Use Your Storage Wisely
Lastly, if there are some miscellaneous items you must keep in your living room, keep them out of sight by using some storage solutions like sideboards or cabinets. Ideally, you should aim to store as little as possible in your living room, hidden or otherwise.
