Hello World! Welcome Friends! There are some areas of the house that can get away with an infrequent cleaning schedule. The living room, for example, mostly just needs a quick tidying up of things laying around. And bedrooms just need to get organized so there aren’t things like clothes all over the place.
The bathroom, however, needs to be on a rigid cleaning schedule. You can save yourself time and energy later on by making sure you do a thorough deep clean so it stays cleaner for longer. Nobody likes cleaning the bathroom, but with the right tips, it can be a breeze. In this article, we will go over several ways to get your bathroom spotless.
The Toilet
The toilet is the area where the most germs are lurking in the house. That isn’t to say that it should take the most effort, however. You can work smarter and not harder by using some simple tricks.
For starters, you can use some products that you dump into the toilet bowl that will clean and sanitize it while you work on other things. Some of these products are sort of like bath bombs in the sense that you simply drop them into the bowl and the fizzing action reduces the need for a scrub brush.
For the surfaces, use something that has bleach or some other type of disinfectant that will kill germs while it also makes it shiny and clean. Avoid harsh chemicals, however, as they can damage the seat or the hardware on the toilet. Be especially careful when cleaning a bidet seat as harsh chemicals can damage them.
Get the Grout
The one thing that makes a bathroom look perpetually dirty even when you’ve cleaned it frequently is the grout. When the grout gets dirty it ruins the whole look of the bathroom.
This is when you do need to break out that handy scrub brush and get in there. However, you also need the right product to get them clean. Use a spray that sits on the grout for five minutes or so which will start the cleaning process for you while you work on other areas. Then scrub it off until you can see the dark color is beginning to lighten. After, take a clean cloth or towel and wipe it clean.
Look to Remove Calcium Buildup
Another area to clean so that the bathroom doesn’t look old and grimy is to focus on the fixtures. If you have hard water then you likely have a frequent build-up of crust from calcium on the faucets and showerhead.
To properly clean the outside and even into the faucet or showerhead jets themselves, you’ll need to soak them. This won’t work by just spraying them with a product. You need to immerse them in a solution of vinegar to break down the deposits.
Fill a plastic bag with distilled white vinegar about halfway up. Then, tie the bag onto the shower head or faucet until the encrusted area is immersed in it. Leave it to sit like that for up to a half-hour and then remove the vinegar and carefully dump it down the drain.
After that, it should take just a few seconds of scrubbing with an old toothbrush to get it looking like new.
Do the Whole Shower
Mildew builds up easily in the shower and bath since they are always wet. If you have a bathroom without a window to let the humid air out, then this is a bigger problem for you since there is no way for things to dry off.
Start with the shower curtain as it easily builds up with mold and mildew. If you wait until it already has mold on it, then you run the risk of it getting stained beyond repair. Just throw it in the washing machine once a week to keep it fresh.
Then make sure the silicone in the tub is wiped down well. It is also an area that can attract lots of mold and gets harder to clean when it gets stained. A product with some bleach in it will clean it well but be warned: the bleach will cause it to weaken and need to be replaced sooner.
If you have a shower door that is glass, then make sure to have a squeegee in there to use to wipe down the door. It should be used after every shower to prevent soap scum from building up on it.
