Hello World! Welcome Friends! Being able to relax and fully enjoy your living space is crucial. To make this happen, you want your living space to be as bright and light as possible. If a space is not light, it can feel dark and oppressive. This can then mean that you don’t want to spend as much time in a room. When it comes to getting more light into your living space, there are several things you can do.
Use Lighter Paint
When walls are painted in dark colors, it can bring down the feel (and look) of a room, and make it feel more claustrophobic. Certain paints can also feel different in different lights, and you must be mindful of this. Walls and ceilings that are painted in darker colors should be lightened up where possible. You can do this by using lighter and brighter colors, such as whites and creams. If you wanted to, you could also purchase paints that have special additives that reflect the light. Lighter colors used on the ceiling will help add to the illusion of height.
Add Bifold Doors
If your living space overlooks an exterior space, then why not add bifold doors to make the most of the views, and the natural light? Bifold doors from Now Aluminium can give a living space a whole new look and feel. They can help a space feel bigger, and certainly lighter in all weathers (even when the sun is not shining outside). Bifold doors can allow you to feel connected to your exterior space and can allow natural light to pour into your home.
Make Use of Mirrors
Mirrors can allow light to bounce around the room, and if they are carefully placed they can make a space feel bigger too. Having a variety of mirrors placed together (that are perhaps of different shapes and sizes) will allow natural light to filter into a room. Throughout the day you will find that the light will change, and this can add a new depth and dimension to how your living space looks and feels.
Reconfigure the Furniture and Layout
The layout of the furniture in your living space can have a huge impact on how light and bright the space feels. Large bulky items can soak up natural light, and in some cases even block it. Always start looking at the furniture in your room and seeing if it works in its current position. Does the large couch allow natural light to bounce around the room? Do you have a dresser or a sideboard that is blocking natural light from coming in through the window?
Add New Lighting
From ceiling lights to wall lights and table lamps, you will find that there are always ways you can bring more artificial light into your living space. New central ceiling lighting can make a room feel bigger as it can allow light to bounce around a room. Similarly, carefully positioned wall lights and table lamps/occasion lamps can light up darkened areas or corners of a room.
