Hello World! Welcome Friends! Yoga is an amazing way to build strength, calm your mind and revive your physical being. However, making it to the studio every day isn’t always possible.
If you’d like to intensify your practice, consider creating an at-home yoga space, which will allow you to hop on your mat whenever you have a spare moment.
Use the following tips to transform a spare room, office or even a corner of your living room into a thriving yoga retreat.
Add Some New Decor
While you don’t need a ton of furniture for a yoga space, buying calming, Zen-like decor is essential for creating the right vibe.
You may also want to invest in a floor-length mirror that you can use to check your posture and ensure you’re entering poses correctly. Additionally, purchase a cabinet to store all your yoga props.
Grab Some Mood Lighting
Relying on your usual overhead lights just won’t do the trick for your homemade studio. While natural light is preferable, if you’re in a dark corner of your house, scatter some Himalayan salt lamps across the space. Not only do these provide a warm, loving light, but they also improve air quality.
Arrange Some Plants
You want your yoga space to be as clean and natural as possible, which is why adding a little greenery can really revitalize the room. Opt for plants that are well-known for their air-purifying properties, such as the spider plant, peace lily, devil’s ivy or snake plant. Scatter these on your windowsills; otherwise, find a small table or desk that can hold them.
Use Candles, Essential Oils or Incense
Candles are another great and meaningful way to light a room, but more than that, they can provide a lovely scent that helps you delve deeper into your practice. Similarly, incense lets off a smoky haze that dims your senses, so you can concentrate. Finally, essential oils are a great way to help you wind down and relax. In particular, choose oils like frankincense, rose and lavender to edge away your fear and anxiety.
Paint the Walls
It might be difficult to practice if the walls in your room aren’t sending off good vibes. As such, find a color that calms and invigorates you, such as a cool gray or blue.
Plus, these are neutral enough to match the other decor you add to the space. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add a bit of color to the walls in the form of a light purple or rosy pink.
Invest in Your Props
While all you technically need to practice yoga is a quality mat, you can dive deeper into poses and ultimate relaxation when you have an arsenal of props at your disposal.
Consider buying two yoga blocks, a meditation pillow, bolster, strap, blanket and wedge. When buying yoga props, think about getting yourself a personal mat that is of guaranteed premium quality material like those we find in Pureful Yoga. Store these away in a cabinet or closet when not in use to keep the space uncluttered and tidy.
Breathe Deep and Relax into Your New Yoga Space
Practicing yoga doesn’t mean going to an expensive studio 20 miles from your house. Rather, you can have the same experience right in your very own home with just a little prep. Make these changes to your space, and you’ll be able to enjoy your yoga room for years to come.

It doesn’t take much work to transform an area of your home into the perfect yoga zone. All you really need is a mat and enough room to move around 360 .
