Hello World! Welcome Friends! Cast stone or reconstructed stone is a kind of refined building material that is precast at the manufacturing site and cured in a controlled environment to ensure the best quality. Afterward, it is transported to the final location where it is installed. It is typically used as an accent piece e.g. trim, facing buildings, garden ornaments, etc. to add to the architectural charm of a building. Manufactured either through a dry tamp method, similar to building sandcastles using a damp mixture of concrete and ground-up stone stuffed in the mold and tamped out, or a wet cast method of pouring a liquid concrete mix into the mold and letting it sit, this stone can replace many natural building stones such as limestone, granite, and sandstone because the final finish of the stone can be manipulated to imitate natural ones.
Garden Ornaments with Cast Stone
You might be overlooking that small backyard garden of yours thinking it is too small to make anything out of, however, with some cast stone décor, good landscaping, and a variety of plants, you can turn virtually any place into a cozy and welcoming courtyard to beat the heatwave.
While stone is not the cheapest material out there for a renovation, it brings in a touch of nature and gives your house a more valuable look at first glance. The advantage of cast stone products is that they are cheaper and more consistent than regular stone. Cast stone can be shaped and textured the same each time without much color variance that is prevalent in nature.
Cast Stone Wall: Another feature of cast stone is that it can be formed into slabs that imitate rocks; these can be used on garden walls or as accent features on the sides of long planters. It adds texture and color to the area depending on the rock style that you choose to go for. What you can also consider is building a wall around your garden for some added privacy and a lot of room for vines to grow.
Centerpieces: An effortless way to transform your space is to add a centerpiece. Whether that be a sculpture, a stone fountain, or even a fountain with a pond, this feature can be very strong and over the top if you’d like it to be. The only thing to remember is to add planters or greenery around this feature so it doesn’t look too bare and misfit.
Planters: A few big planters with beautifully done edging and healthy plants look absolutely gorgeous wherever they are.
Sculptures: The beauty of molding the stone is that it can be shaped into any mold that you can come up with. Small gardens don’t necessarily mean you can’t put a sculpture or two in them. Beautifully done, white sculptures cut through the green and add a great variance to the garden without taking up much space.
Cast Stone Benches: Cast benches can be uplifted with trimming and small sculptures to make for seating that will last longer than a lifetime. It’s definitely a good idea to ditch the flimsy pull-out lawn chairs and go for something with character and taste.
Pier Caps and Finials: If you have a gate to your garden or are considering installing one, a pier cap adds a modern, simple trim to the piers or, if you want something extra, go for a sculpted finial.
Pavement: When transforming your backyard into a landscaped courtyard, you need to separate the plants and décor from the walkway or else it looks like a big jumbled-up mess. This is why each area needs a separate texture and feel Pavements are a great substitute for a pebble pathway if you want something sturdier. It can also be engraved with personalized messages or customized to your desired color and finish. For larger backyards, pavement is an easier way to separate out a part for hosting family gatherings and barbecues as a stone is more susceptible to heat.
The Misfit
After all this effort to turn your garden into a whimsical-looking sanctuary, you might be tempted to scrap your garden shed as it probably looks out of place however, you absolutely do not have to do this. In fact, it’s a good idea to keep the shed as you’ll be needing more gardening tools with all the extra plants and a good place to store them. There are tons of shed organization ideas online to make the most out of it. As for the outside, painting it a simple white or gray and planting some small plants and shrubs paired with a couple of large plants or small trees will make your shed blend in like a charm. You can even put a couple of small sculptures against the shed wall or in a corner.
