Hello World! Welcome Friends! Fancy yourself as a cocktail connoisseur? Know what it takes to pour the perfect pint? If it’s a yes, then have you ever thought of opening your own bar from the comfort of your own home? Quite the undertaking, right? Well, perhaps it’s not as difficult and unattainable as you might think.
The ideal home bar set-up is never far away from the realms of possibility, and you may already have the foundations in place to give yourself the very best in terms of hosting events for friends and family.
In reality, it only takes a mini-fridge and a nice surface which can be turned into a bar of some kind, though there are numerous ways in which you can ensure that your set-up is as magnificent as it can and should be.
Keep It Cool
Not only are mini fridges important from a practical and visual standpoint, but a nice wine cooler will also set you right, depending on the desired aesthetic. It can really unveil a room’s charm, adding some other options for those not wanting a beer or a cocktail. For the red wines, a wine rack can also never go amiss.
If you organize the mini-fridge right, you can also fit quite a lot in there. It may be mini, but it’s quite a misleading name if you’re good at managing space. Soft drinks, cocktails, beers, wine miniatures – keeping it simple can most certainly pay dividends in terms of both the practical and aesthetic side of things.
So what could be cooler than a fridge? Well, an ice maker of course. After all, who wants a cocktail without ice? Though there are some that don’t have ice, you should at least give your guests the option should they so wish. Save yourself the bother of smashing a bag of ice on the kitchen side to break them up and make your own ice instead.
It’s All About the Look
Okay, so your home bar doesn’t have to look exactly like the one down the pub, but then again that’s the point of a home bar. It’s about making a bar that feels more like a home, and where better to do that than in your own home?
In terms of storage areas, you could do a lot worse than using the bookshelf for the storage of the non-chilled liqueurs and spirits. Chances are there are countless shelves and surfaces available at your disposal that you perhaps hadn’t found any use for until now.
You can also find plenty of tabletops, surfaces and desktops secondhand in various locations online and offline, meaning you can make your own bar without breaking the bank in any considerable way. It’s not necessarily about the tools you have, but how you make the best use of them.
So if you want to raise the bar, then raising a bar from some of the underused furniture in your home, alongside the sufficient cooling technology could genuinely be just the ticket. With the lockdowns of yesteryear having passed, we’ve learned that life is too short to miss out on all of these social occasions. With your own bar, you can lead those occasions and then some.
