Hello World! Welcome Friends! Did you know that out of about 124 million housing units in the US, around 14 million units reported having roaches? Further, 14.8 million units reported seeing either mice or rats. So if you have pests in your home, at least you’re not alone.
If you’re like most homeowners, you want to keep your home as pest-free as possible. But if you’re dealing with a pest infestation, it can be difficult to know where to turn for help. Finding the best pest control company from the myriad of options can be a daunting task. You want to find a Pest Control company that is local to you and can handle the exact issue that you have, that is why research is an essential part of getting those pests out of your home.
If you’re having trouble picking the best control company in your region, we’re here to help. In today’s post, we’ll be highlighting a few tips for finding the best residential pest control company near you.
Check the Company’s License and Certificates
Most, if not all, states require companies that offer pest control services to have a valid license. This means that any pest control service operating without a license is doing so illegally.
Look for information about the company’s licenses and certificates on the company’s website. Alternatively, you can call them directly and ask for information about their licenses and certificates.
Steer clear of any pest control company without a license or with an expired one.
Read Reviews and Testimonials
One of the best ways to gauge a company’s services is by reading reviews and testimonials from past customers. With most pest control services, you can find these reviews on their websites. However, you can also check out authority review sites like Yelp or the BBB.
It’s okay for a pest control company to have a few negative reviews. In fact, it’s a good idea to read both positive and negative reviews so that you can get an accurate idea of what to expect from the company. However, avoid any company with too many negative reviews.
Check the Company’s Experience
In the pest control business, experience always goes hand-in-hand with quality.
A company that has been in business for many years is likely to have the necessary experience to get the job done right. You can never go wrong with an experienced pest control company. This is particularly true if you need a specific service. If you’re looking for pest control for apartments as an example, then you should look for a company that is experienced in dealing with lots of indoor units simultaneously.
That said, don’t discount newer companies outright. In some cases, these companies can offer better services than their more experienced counterparts.
The best way to gauge a new company’s experience is by reading reviews and testimonials from past customers.
Ensure the Company Has Proper Insurance
Insurance protects you from liability in case of any damage done to your property during the course of the job. It also protects you in case any of the company’s employees is injured while working.
At the very least, the company should have general liability for any damage to your property. Ideally, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance in case any of their employees is injured while working.
Ask for Referrals
Referrals are one of the best ways to find a reputable pest control service. Start by asking family and friends whether they can refer you to any good pest control company. They’re more likely to point you in the right direction than complete strangers.
Other than family and friends, you can also ask your local hardware store or home improvement center for referrals. The staff working there are likely to be familiar with most of the pest control companies in the area and can give you some good recommendations.
Check Their Range of Services
Most pest control companies offer a wide range of services. These services include termite treatment, mosquito control, bed bug removal, and more. Some companies even offer building and pest inspections as a special service.
When looking for a pest control company, make sure to check their website or give them a call to see what services they offer. Avoid any company that doesn’t seem to offer the specific service you’re looking for.
Also, be cautious with companies that don’t specify the services they offer. They’re likely to be unprofessional and may not have the necessary experience to do a good job.
Check Their Pricing
Pest control companies have different charges for their services. You want to find a company that you can afford.
Ask for multiple quotes from different companies and pick the one that falls within your budget. However, this doesn’t mean that you should pick the company with the cheapest quote.
Companies that are overly cheap often offer subpar services. It’s the classic case of getting what you pay for. Similarly, a more expensive company doesn’t guarantee top-notch services.
Check the Quality of Staff Members
A pest control company is only as good as its staff members. Make sure to check the qualifications and experience of the company’s employees.
The best pest control companies will have highly trained and experienced staff members. These staff members will have the necessary skills and knowledge to get the job done right.
In addition to checking their qualifications, you should also ensure that the company does background checks on all its employees. This is important for your safety as well as that of your property.
A good pest control company will have no problem sharing information about its staff members.
Check for Registration With the Pest Control Board
In most states, pest control companies have to be registered with the pest control board. This registration is a way of ensuring that the company meets all the necessary requirements.
Registration with the pest control board also protects you in case of any damage done to your property during the course of treatment. Make sure to ask for proof of registration before engaging in any business with the pest control service.
Check Customer Support
The best pest removal company will have excellent customer support. This customer support should be available 24/7 in case you have any questions, concerns, or emergencies.
Also, ensure that customer service reps fulfill their promises and don’t leave you hanging.
Choose the Best Pest Control Company
Pests are a nuisance and can cause serious damage to your property. It’s important to work with a professional pest control company to get rid of them.
The best pest control company will have the necessary skills and experience to get the job done right. They will also be registered with the pest control board and have excellent customer support. Make sure to check for these things when looking for a pest control company.

Solid advice in recommending that people check pest control companies’ licenses, insurances, and prices. I would also add, though most folks would already do this, ask around amongst family, friends, and acquaintances for referrals for pest control companies people have used. It’s always good to hear about other people’s experiences with different companies. Also, make sure to get several quotes from different companies so you can compare and keep in mind that cheaper doesn’t always equal better. Lastly, many times the smaller Ma and Pa Pest Control companies provide better service and are easier to deal with than the larger pest control companies (like Terminix, etc.)
