Hello World! Welcome Friends! No one can escape the growing pressures the world is coming under in terms of sustainability. More and more efforts are being made to improve the world’s environmentally friendly practices, reduce the reliance on fossil fuels, and make daily swaps to help progress the green revolution.
It doesn’t matter where you live or what you do there are lots of little (or big) changes you can make even in your family home to help reduce your carbon footprint and make your home greener and more eco-friendly. If you want to take the next step and delve deeper into green endeavors then here are some eco-friendly steps you can take to make your home greener.
Change Your Energy Source
Reliance on fossil fuels is a huge source of contention across the globe, not to mention one of the biggest contributors to emissions. Changing your energy source could drastically reduce the carbon footprint of your home, but it is one of the bigger swaps you could make. Typically speaking there is an initial outlay when it comes to changing the way you rely on energy. If you were to opt for solar panels for example then you would have to foot the installation costs. That said you would soon recoup these costs as not only would your bills reduce you could sell surplus energy back to your supplier. Another option to consider is using a propane supplier to provide your home with propane energy. Propane is an approved clean fuel and using it will reduce emissions of pollutants such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.
Bamboo Toothbrushes
Moving to a much smaller swap, bamboo is a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic. Plastic is another incredibly harmful material that is polluting the oceans and over-loading landfills. Despite recycling efforts it is still thought that every piece of plastic ever made still exists. When you think about how many toothbrushes have been in circulation, it adds up to a lot of plastic, and that is just one type of plastic. Every plastic switch you can make will help reduce plastic pollution and bamboo toothbrushes are a great place to start. You don’t have to end there, bamboo is starting to replace more and more household items from plates to towels.
Beeswax Wraps
Beeswax wraps are made from fabric (usually, cotton, linen, or bamboo) they are then covered or soaked in natural beeswax. They are a great alternative to a plastic bag or container and are liable and moldable so that they can form any shape and be sealed accordingly. They are also waterproof meaning that they keep moisture in or out as needed. A popular use for beeswax wraps is to wrap food items to be stored in the fridge, cover and seal leftovers or a bowl or use them to wrap up your sandwich for your lunch. Once you start using them they will soon have a regular spot in your kitchen supplies store.
These wraps are incredibly useful and versatile and can be used for so many different reasons, sizes or shapes, all the while reducing your reliance on plastic.
