Hello World! Welcome Friends! From looking good to feeling good, home decor has gone on quite a journey. From the early years of art-deco where items were not made to be touched so regularly, to the new modern interiors where the materials are almost more important than the style. We all want different textures and surfaces to touch in our home. We want our senses to be spoiled with lots of different sensations. It’s something that modern interior designers have focussed on for almost half a decade. It takes a long time but finally, we’ve gone from making decor out of different materials to decor that feels good on our skin. We don’t necessarily want a cold leather sofa anymore, that’s why fabric sofas are more popular than ever. It’s also why rugs are back in fashion because we don’t always want a cold hardwood floor underneath our feet.
The Return of the Rug
Vinyl flooring in the kitchen and hardwood floors in the hallway are old news. These materials might look great but they don’t always feel great. You’ll know this if you tiptoe out of bed for a midnight snack and your feet are met with a freezing cold surface. If only there was a soft warm rug to greet you on your little journey. Well, with faux fur rugs and handmade wool rugs, you have this option. These rugs don’t focus on looks but on touch and feel. They care about making you feel comfortable. You should try a faux sheepskin rug because the textures are long and durable. Made to spread your weight evenly, this would make a great bathroom or hallway rug.
To the Touch
The modern-day decor is all about being fearless with your designs. You should want to live in a home that isn’t the same as next door. So texture and touch-sensitive design is well and truly taking off. Take a look at these 3D Wall Panels and decide what kind you would like along the walls in your own home. The 3D 74 tiles are particularly art-deco-like. They stand out but not too much, they have great shape overlap and staggered design. On the other hand, you may want to inject a little luxury in your bedroom with the faux leather panels instead. They come in black or white but if you have a neutral home, it’s best to go with the latter. For your bathroom, you may want something that leaps out a bit. So go with the classic mosaic wall panel in the shimmering silver.
Rough and Coarse
Modern kitchens can be two things. They’re either complex or they’re plain. There’s a mixture of clay tiles, metals, wood and even glass in the contemporary styles. But, you may want to harken back to the good old days of rough and coarse backsplashes that feel hard but alluring. You can feel every little bump of rock and tiny little grooves on the surface. It’s classic but it also feels good on the fingertips.
The modern home shouldn’t just look good it should give you different textures to feel. It should rock the senses and make you feel alive.
