Hello World! Welcome Friends! With the Christmas season upon us we have been watching a ton of Christmas movies. Movies like White Christmas (can you believe Vera Ellen’s waist?), A Christmas Carol, Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life and of course Home Alone! Home Alone is probably one of my favorites partly due to the Mini-Mansion it was filmed in outside of Chicago.

I mean, seriously it is an amazing house! For those who love traditional houses, this one is utter perfection.
Remember the iconic staircase from the movie?

Well, look at it now! The house sold back in 2012 for 1.595 Million.

The floors, the moldings and archways are simply stunning.
Do you remember the Master Bedroom from the movie?

Here it is in the shot from the listing.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to tour this home in person? Unfortunately, since it is a private residence, we don’t really have that option. We’ll just have to watch Home Alone to get a dose of this fabulous house.
However, that led us to a conversation about movies that have had scenes filmed on location in the United States and Canada. Movies like Ghost Busters, X-Men, Groundhog Day, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to name just a few. And a ton of movies have had scenes shot in Washington D.C. Movies such as Independence Day, National Treasure and Forrest Gump. Do you remember the scene where Forrest runs through the water for Jenny at the Lincoln Memorial? It’s such a great movie.
To visit all of the famous sites in D.C. that have been in movies would be such a fun way to spend a day. It might be tricky using the map on your phone to navigate your way to each spot. You could use address verification from Addressy.com to help you navigate your way around D.C. Addressy is a cloud service that confirms addresses and locations. Super handy when you unfamiliar with the lay of the land.
Of course for our town, Houston we have Urban Cowboy from 1980 among a few other notables. What movies have filmed in and around your town? #MyTownInMovies
Do a little search and you might just be surprised at what you find!
