Hello World! Welcome Friends! Keeping houseplants alive can seem like somewhat of an art. Many people get very excited about welcoming new plants into their homes, only to find that they can’t keep them healthy for very long at all. Even easy options, like Spider Plants, can end up looking withered and unhappy within a few short days of you getting them home. Thankfully, though, this post is here to help you to develop some greener fingers for this task.
Learning
Learning is a crucial element of a process like this, giving you the chance to develop a good understanding of the needs of the plants you have around your home. Some plants need a lot of light, while others will want to drink large amounts of water; you need to work hard to give them exactly what they need. Reading about anthurium care, for example, is extremely easy, with a few quick searches giving you all of the information you need to get started. It is always worth doing this before you decide to buy a plant. You can also learn about the plants you want to keep from your local garden store, though places like this are becoming increasingly uncommon.
Building A Schedule
Alongside learning, it also makes a lot of sense to develop some sort of schedule for your plants. Many plants need to be watered at least once a week, with some wanting even more than this. Moisture sensors can be used to get an idea of how dry your pots are, and some people even go as far as connecting their pots to the internet so that they can get notifications when they are getting too dry. This can often be avoided by simply building a schedule, though, as this will give you the opportunity to make your plant watering a normal element of your existing routine. You just need to make sure that you’re not under-watering them for long periods.
Being Flexible
As living things, it can be hard to predict exactly what one plant will need, even compared to one of the same species. This means that you have to be prepared to be flexible with your plant placement, management, and choices, changing the way that you manage your houseplants based on their needs. For example, plants that need more sunlight will wilt without losing their color, while plants that need water will usually wilt and become a lighter shade. Hints like this can make it much easier to keep on top of your plants, ensuring that they always look great no matter the effort you’re putting into them.
With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to improve your indoor gardening skills. It can be impossible to keep certain plants in some environments, and this is always worth keeping in mind so that you don’t feel disheartened if one of your plants dies. This isn’t always your fault.
