Hello World! Welcome Friends! I don’t know about you, but I really love the beginning of a new year. It’s a time to reflect back on the previous year and see what worked or what didn’t work. And, it’s a time to map out new ideas and plans. My main focus will continue to get our house painted and decorated. But, I will have to be flexible as it seems shipments of furniture and decor have been delayed and will probably continue to do so.
The first area that I will be finishing up is my Home Office. Currently, I have artwork being framed that should be ready mid-January. Also, additional chairs have been ordered and will more than likely be here mid-March. Below is a look at one of the pieces that is being framed. My niece, Gabriella is an artist and worked up some custom prints specifically for my office. If you want to check out some of her work, you can visit her at Gabe’s Creative Studio. Isn’t it gorgeous?
After the Home Office is completed, the next project will be the Dining Room. Now, I would like to purchase new furniture, but I will need to save up for that expense. Our current furniture is probably close to 40 years old and could use some love. I could paint or freshen up the stain, but if I’m honest, I really want something new. Here’s shot of the dining room prior to move in.
It’s a great space even with the baby diarrhea paint color on the trim. The only thing that has been accomplished is that the chandelier has been changed out.
The next project after the Dining Room will be the Breakfast Room followed by the Kitchen. As usual, there will be a whole lot of painting going on.
We haven’t done anything in the kitchen and breakfast room as far as a makeover. The only thing we have done is to replace the breakfast room chandelier. And, I don’t have a picture of that; so you will have to wait.
These are not our barstools, however I do have plans to purchase new chairs for the island. We currently have stools with no backs. It would be nice to have chairs with backs for the island to make sitting at the island more comfortable for guests.
Below is a shot of the little niche makeover that was finished in early January 2020.
I also have plans to paint the kitchen cabinets and replace the hardware. In addition, this year we are going to hire out the painting of the family room, stairwell and game room upstairs.
I have been searching for a large mirror to hang above the fireplace as well as a new chandelier. We very seldom use the fan, so I thought why not replace it with something pretty. Do you see the four sconces on the walls? Those will be replaced as well. And, of course I would love to get new furniture; which will mean more saving! The furniture in the pictures is from the listing.
The ceilings are too high for us to tackle. So, we must hire this job out.
The ceiling in the game room is quite high as well.
We would also like to replace all of the carpet in the home, but we will need to get all of the painting finished first.
Next on my project list is the Primary Bedroom. Below are pictures of our bedroom from the listing.
Probably the last makeover will be the media room.
Once we get it painted, we’ll replace the carpet and bring the big entertainment center (not pictured) upstairs to occupy the wall that doesn’t have any sconces on it. And, of course, buy new furniture.
Well that is all I have for the house plans. I definitely have enough to keep me busy.
What goals to you have for your house this year? Do you map out your plans or ideas for your home, or do you wing it? I would love to know your thought process in the comment section below.

Indeed. I’m fascinated with this blog and some tips she shares, really useful even for a single guy living alone like me.
By the way, I work as a plumber here in Brazil, but found very useful the tips about hiring a plumber, it helped me to become a still better professional.

Your home is so lovely. I am glad to see I am not the only one who makes house goals for the new year. We have already had to switch some of ours around a bit but we are hopeful to get most of them done. Good luck with the painting with the tall ceilings. I have 17 foot ceilings in part of my home and wouldn’t even consider trying to paint them myself either. Thanks for sharing your goals. #HomeMattersParty
