Hello World! Welcome Friends! I’m hoping to show you the Entry Hall painted in the next few weeks, but I’m not making any promises. We have a trip planned next week, so this past week I’ve been trying to paint as much as I can. The trim is taking the most time, but it will be so pretty once the baby diarrhea color is all gone. But, for now I want to show you what I’m thinking as far as furniture, lighting and hardware for the Entry Hall.
Furniture, Lighting and Hardware Plan for the Entry Hall
If you remember, in our previous home, I used the green sofa table in our Entryway. I would like to move this piece upstairs either to the Media Room or the Game Room. Here is a refresher in case you don’t remember what it looks like.
The look I want to go for in this house is more Traditional since the home is filled with arches and crown molding in practically every room. I’m leaning towards the chest below or something similar to go in the first part of the Entry Hall before the first arch.
Furniture
This piece is a combination of woods and veneer—birch, alder, cherry, and chestnut burl which I think will mix well with my other pieces of furniture I plan on keeping. Size wise, it’s narrow enough for the space and the front door won’t hit it when opened all of the way.
Just look at that gorgeous top!
Here’s a refresher of the Entry Hall so you can get an idea of where the piece will go.
The ceilings in the first section of the Hall before the arch are 12 ft., so it really gives the space a very large and expansive feel. The chest will go on the wall opposite the Study doors.
The next section of the Hall has 10 ft. ceilings and a can light that will be replaced with a chandelier. On the wall that is just before the stairs and to the left of the Hall Closet Door, I will place our china cabinet that has traveled with us from California. Below is a picture of the hutch in our previous home.
You can see it behind the gold chairs. I have plans to paint the inside of the hutch with a pretty green color and fill it with some of my collection of blue and white. The hardware will be given a fresh coat of metallic gold paint.
Hardware
For the door hardware, the plan is to go with Antique Brass. Below is the Schlage Andover Passage Door Knob Set with Decorative Addison Trim. And, all of the hinges will have to be changed as well since they are all painted the baby diarrhea color.
Mirror
I bought this lovely before we moved with the intentions of spray painting her gold. I plan on hanging it above the chest in the first portion of the Entry Hall.
Isn’t she dreamy?
Lighting
For lighting, I was thinking of open lanterns to go in both sections of the Entry Hall. The lantern below is just beyond gorgeous, but I’ll need to save up to purchase two of these.
I think it will compliment the mirror nicely (once the mirror has been spruced up with paint).
I haven’t even looked for rugs yet. I’ll wait until I have the chests in place to see how the space looks and to decide what size rug or rugs to get.
That’s it for the plan so far. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
