Hello World! Happy Friday and all that jazz! We’ve been in our red brick, Colonial for two years and I’ve just now bought a rug. Well, actually I bought it three weeks ago. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen a shot of it in my car. I meant to show it to you weeks ago, but life happened. I ended up getting a nasty Summer cold that I’m still getting over with the last of it being a cough; and then Little Dedicated headed back to school. So, pardon my tardiness in showing it to you.
This rug literally fell on me. I stopped by At Home which was formerly Garden Ridge to have a look around. I ventured into the rug section and was looking at another rug on a lower shelf when this one slid down from the top shelf and almost knocked me over! I looked up just in time to see it coming and moved my head so that my shoulder took the hit.
I didn’t really hurt, but I think it’s a little funny. The rug chose me.
It’s been two years of walking on the hardwoods; so it’s nice to have something soft underfoot.
Such a nice contrast with the dark furniture and the blue accents throughout the room.
Everyone that has visited loves the rug. And, more importantly the cats approve. It’s now been deemed another lounge worthy spot by the felines. It is truly a miracle they are not in any of the shots.
And, not to be forgotten, I picked up some pillows from Home Goods. I know shocking. You can check out that haul here on my Instagram feed.
I love the light blue mixed with the dark blue in the lamps and rug.
What do you think? You like? Now I need to find a rug for the Hearth room. I may just go with a solid color since the rooms are so close together. And, I know, I need to get pictures hung in the family room. I wanted to wait to see what rug I would end up with as well as curtains before I dig through my stash of mirrors and prints.
Next week I will be sharing my outdoor patio space that I recently spruced up. And, no I haven’t had a moment to spray paint my little bistro set. Maybe this weekend. I have been painting in Little Dedicated’s room while she is in school. I’m having to take it one wall at a time since I have no space to pull all of the furniture out. I will persevere and get it done bit by bit.

It’s amazing how a rug can pull a room together. I waited over a year for our living room rug but you can’t rush these things. Half the fun is the hunt but I have to admit my story sure isn’t as interesting as yours. 😀
Your pictures are great and it is easy to see how well your beautiful home flows and the attention you give to the oh-so-important details.
Have a great weekend.

Beautiful! I want something similar for our office/library. Maybe I’ll have to go check out At Home; they just opened one near my house.
