Hello World! Welcome Friends! I know it has been a bit since I have made a personal post. So, today is the day! I’m writing this post from the hospital where my Mom is currently staying after her hip replacement. She came through her surgery just fine, but it was a very serious surgery. Her hip joint was imbedded in her pelvic bone and when the surgeon pulled the joint out from the pelvic bone, her femur broke. So she has been put back together and is doing well with managing her pain. Needless to say the schedule has been absolutely crazy between all of her appointments and Chloe’s after school activities. I’m a little on the tired side, but we are grateful for God’s faithfulness in taking care of our Mom!
Cooler temperatures have not hit Houston yet, but I’m looking forward to the day I can retire the shorts and pull out the sweaters and cooler weather clothes. But, that hasn’t stopped me from pulling out my soup recipes and making a batch or two or our favorites. One of our favorite soups is the Sausage & Lentil Soup similar to the one served at Carrabba’s.
Sausage & Lentil Soup
A couple of weeks back, I decided to make a pot of soup for us to have for dinner one night and then for noshing on throughout the week.
These little salt & pepper shaker owls were picked up from Home Goods a couple of years before. Aren’t they cute?
Some of my favorite spices are in this soup. I have a serious love for Red Pepper, but I have to be careful and not overdo it in the soup. Greg and I like it spicy, but sometimes I can make it too spicy for Chloe. She does like a little heat to the soup, but just not as much as we do. On another note, I’m still enjoying my organized spices and pantry door. These little containers are so great for storing spices and it doesn’t hurt that they are pretty as well.
Another bonus is that this soup is full of vegetables. I’m always looking for ways to sneak vegetables into Chloe’s diet, and this soup fits the bill! She loves this soup and requests a small cup of it for her after school snack before she heads out for gymnastics, dance or piano. The child is busy!
The little square cutting board was part of a subscription box that I used to get. I love it’s small size. It’s perfect for when you have one or two things to slice up.
The china is a vintage Noritake pattern that my collector friend, Kevin gave to me when he moved to Atlanta.
The bowls are a generous size and perfect for one serving of this heartwarming soup.
I’m looking forward to using my Luna Brushed Gold Flatware this holiday season.
Bread or croutons are perfect for soaking up this delicious soup.
Another pair of cute salt and pepper shakers.
So, come on cooler weather. We are ready for you!
We are ready to start planning for the holiday festivities.
So what’s your favorite Fall soup?

This sausage lentil soup looks and sounds fabulous. Thank you for sharing at Friday Favorites. It sounds like your mom ended up with a more complicated surgery than anticipated. I’m glad that she is doing better. It is very draining to try to keep up with everything when you have a loved one have something like this surgery. I wish you and your mom well.
