Hello World! Welcome Friends! For many of us, the arrival of Spring comes with a sense of relief. No more cold days shut up inside all the time. The air is fresher, plants are coming back to life, and you can finally spend some more time outside. It’s during this time that a lot of people want to bring the same sense inside their homes. They want everything to feel fresh and new, so that they can start off the warmer months on the right foot. If this sounds like you, here are a few essential tips for getting your home ready for Spring.
Clear Out the Junk
One of the first things you should do, and one of the best, is clear out the junk from your home. We all have those sections of our homes where the junk piles have just gotten too high. Maybe it’s your attic stuffed with boxes, or old furniture clogging up your basement. Wherever it is, now is the time to get rid of it. Set aside a decent amount of time to go through your home and decide what you no longer need. Once you get started, you’ll probably be amazed at how much extra stuff you actually have.
After you’ve decided what to get rid of, the next step is to decide how to get rid of it. You have a few options. First, you can try to sell it. Think about either hosting a yard sale or putting the items up online. If you think you can get a decent return for some of your items, this is a good way to go.
Another option is to donate your stuff to charity. Plenty of charities will take things like old clothing, old electronics, old furniture and more. This option comes with the benefit of a tax write-off, plus you get to do a good deed.
Finally, your last option is to simply throw it away. If there’s anything you can recycle, try to do that. For anything else, find your nearest dumpster and say goodbye. Once it’s all gone from your house, you’ll instantly feel better about your home and be ready for Spring.
Do a Deep Clean
Now that the junk is gone, this is the perfect time to really give your home a good cleaning. While you were moving those boxes around you likely noticed more dirt and dust then you’re willing to admit. With everything out of the way, use the opportunity to clean those hard to reach places that are normally covered with stuff.
But don’t stop there. Go around the rest of your home and keep on cleaning. Wipe down your ceiling fan, dust the blinds, wash the carpets, and clean off your computer. Do all those things that you’re always meaning to do, but never get around to. This means more than just a quick vacuum or doing the dishes – really give your home a good cleaning to get it ready for Spring.
Home Improvement Projects
A great time to get some home improvement projects done is right before Spring. This way, by the time Spring is in full effect and Summer is on the way, your projects will all be completed. So, if there’s a certain project you’ve been wanting to tackle, now is the time to do it.
Maybe you want to redo your kitchen. Or perhaps you want to install some large windows in your living room to let more fresh air in. Whatever it is, start planning it out now. Look into interior design trends for 2019, plan out what you want to do, then either tackle the project yourself or call in a contractor. Spring is all about new beginnings, so get your home off to a good start by getting an major projects out of the way.
Work on the Yard
Finally, don’t forget about the outside of your home. Take some time to fix up the yard, including maintaining your lawn, planting some new flowers, or doing any other landscaping tasks. If you want, you can even fix up your outdoor area to give yourself a place to hang when the warmer weather arrives. When those cool Summer nights come around, you’ll be glad you planned ahead and worked on your outdoor area early.
Make the Most of Your Time
Don’t wait for Spring to pass you by. Get started on some home improvement tasks now, and that way you can make the most of the Springtime feeling. Hopefully this guide was able to offer some helpful advice, and before long your home will be feeling like new to match the atmosphere outside.
