Hello World! Welcome Friends! If you have a kitchen then you understand how important it is for you to stay on top of the cleaning. You will also understand how important it is for you to really make sure that everything is in order as well, and this can be hard if you have a very small kitchen. If you want to turn all of this around then there are a couple of things that you can do to get the kitchen of your dreams.
Utilize Shallow Cabinets
It really does help to think out of the box. A lot of people have kitchen cabinets that are 600mm in depth, as this is the standard. A lot of people select these cabinets without giving anything else a second thought because they don’t know that there are other cabinets out there. The truth is that there are cabinets available in 300mm depth and even 450mm depth as well. This is great if you want some that you can mount on your wall and there are a ton of benefits to doing this. For example, when you use base cabinets that are slimmer, you will soon find that it can open up your floor space and this can also make it much easier for you to maneuver around the kitchen as well. Sure, you may be reducing your storage slightly, but there is a high chance that you won’t be using this space anyway and when you get everything organized, you’ll soon find that your entire kitchen comes together.
Cut Back on the Hardware
If you have an air conditioning vent in your kitchen then you’ll know how great this can be at keeping the whole area very cool. If it’s not working however, then it’s just taking up space, so consider hiring ABC Home & Commercial AC repair to get them to sort it out for you. The same concept applies to your other appliances as well. Worktop clutter is the number one reason why your kitchen looks so small and if you don’t use any of it then there really is no reason for it to be out on your counter. If you want to take care of all this then consider using cabinet doors that are push click. You can also store your hardware in your cupboard, or even above on the shelves. This will really make your space feel bigger, but at the end of the day, cutting down on the amount of appliances that you have will work wonders for the space that you have so do keep that in mind.
Double Sinks
A lot of people think that double sinks are great and they might be, but they do take up a ton of space. You need to make sure that you have a single sink if you want to make your space appear bigger or it may even be an idea for you to downgrade so that you can have a one-and-a-half sink. This can open up your counter space and it can also stop the whole thing from looking too broken up as well. If your sink happens to be central to the window then you will probably have very little room on each side. This can cause a dead zone, and in this space, you won’t be able to accommodate anything. For this reason, it helps to have a much smaller cabinet for the sink as this will help to open up room on either side. For example, if you have a 900ml sink cabinet and you swap this out for a 600ml single sink then this will give you an extra 150mm on either side. This is more than enough for you to do something with, and it’s a great way for you to utilize that extra space.
Use a Compact Dishwasher
A lot of dishwashers are around 600mm in width. Compact dishwashers on the other hand are easily available in a 450mm width and these are growing in popularity more and more by the day. If you are able to save on this space then this can give you the chance to install an extra cabinet. If you do install a smaller dishwasher then this can also be filled faster which means that you can do a full load at a time without having to worry about waiting a day or more. This ultimately means that you won’t have pots waiting around and this will help you to free up way more space as well.
Slim Down Your Fridge
A lot of people want the biggest fridge that they can fit, but these fridges often end up being full of clutter and they are usually half-empty as well. If you don’t do the shopping too often or if you are not continually relying on fresh produce then it is more than possible for you to opt for a fridge that is less than 750mm in total. This can make a huge difference to your kitchen and it can also make it seem way bigger than it actually is as well. If you are concerned that you won’t have room for any of the items that you buy then you have nothing to worry about and this is because fridges often come with numerous compartments and the smaller ones are specifically designed to give you the most out of the room that you have as well.
Integrate All of Your Appliances
If you are not ready to choose compact appliances right now then this isn’t a problem. It is more than possible for you to opt for an integrated appliance instead. They are designed to receive a door front of whatever you want and this means that they can blend into your kitchen with ease. You can get a much more fluid look when you do this and it will also help you to get a much bigger and much more airy appearance as well.
Be Creative with Your Back Splash
When you are in the kitchen working away cooking dinner, this is when the space will feel the smallest. If you are able to put a mirror on the back splash then this can really help you to open the whole space up and it can also make the room feel much bigger as well. If you want to create a much moodier effect then consider using tinted glass so that the reflection is way more subtle. You can even try and remove all of the higher cabinets that you have as well. When you do this, you need to replace them with shelves. You can have as much shelving as you want and this is great for all of your practical and even everyday items. When you have a few shelves on one wall, this can help you to have any tableware that you have stored neatly and you can even store your cookbooks and your jars as well. This can give you a window to be creative, so don’t be afraid to take that next step.
So as you can see, there are so many ways that you can bring out the true look and personality of your kitchen, and when you put the work in, you’d be surprised at how easy it is for you to bring the whole thing together as well as making it look way more open as well. If you want to do something more to make your kitchen look bigger then opt for light colors instead of darker, gloomier colors.
