Hello World! Welcome Friends! While you’d love your property to remain attractive forever, eventually, it’ll start looking a little worse for wear. Problems will start creeping in, and wear and tear will take their toll. Eventually, it’ll begin to look very sorry for itself indeed.
The good news, though, is that the vast majority of problems are superficial. You can remedy them quickly. Here are some of our ideas:
Respray Your Door Hardware
Day to day, you don’t really notice deteriorations in your door hardware. Knobs and knockers slowly tarnish, but it takes a long time. Usually, it is only when you respray them that you notice the difference. Suddenly, everything looks so clean and fresh again.
If you’re planning on spraying metal, you’ll need to remove it from the rest of your door and buy special metal paint. First, apply a primer and then add the primary color plus a top coat to seal it in place.
Repaint Your Walls
Repainting your exterior walls is perhaps the most significant change you can make to your home’s appearance. In a single day, you can eliminate all of the dirt and grime accumulated over the past couple of decades and replace it with something that looks new and attractive.
If you don’t fancy doing the job yourself, you can get exterior painters to do it for you. Choose white or grey – both of these colors are in fashion right now.
Replace Your Knocker
If your knocker is beyond help, you can try replacing it with a stylish one.
Reframe Your Door
Perhaps your door looks great, but the frame is letting it down. If so, you can easily update or upgrade it. Either rip out the old one and replace it with something better or repaint it so that it creates a nice contrast with your door.
Hang Up Your Hose
Leaving your hose unfurled all over your front porch isn’t a good look. Fortunately, you can either buy a reel for it. Or failing that, get a special post with a hook you can wrap it around.
Remove Weeds
Weeds can really cramp your driveway’s style. When they grow up between the paving cracks, they can make it look like a real mess. Fortunately, you fight back against this with a simple homemade spray. Just put some concentrated vinegar in a regular spray bottle and then apply it to the weeds. The acid will dry them out, usually killing them outright.
Rethink Your Borders
The front of your home should look neat and tidy. As such, there should be a clear demarcation between your beds and your lawn.
The best way to achieve this is to “trench” the soil away from the cut edge. Here you create a little moat between your grass and the bed itself, helping to preserve a clear distinction between the two.
So does your home need a facelift? If it does, these ideas should offer plenty of information. Sometimes it is the little touches that make the biggest difference in how it appears.
