Hello World! Welcome Friends! When your tongue craves authentic sushi, you don’t need to go to a special Sushi restaurant to treat yourself. With proper knowledge of equipment and the correct technique, you can make your Sushi kit at home. Serve it to your guests as dinner or pack it in tiffin; the choice is yours!
The great advantage of making sushi at your home is that it does not burn holes in your pockets. With so many sushi kits available in the market, do I need a sushi making kit? No, you can assemble a kit with the kitchen appliances right in your kitchen.
Here are the important pieces of equipment you need to make a sushi kit:

Knife
It is an essential tool in the process of making sushi. Make sure your knife is short and on one side so that you can slice the rolls into clean cuts. The knife is also helpful in cutting fish and vegetables.
If you are making sushi for professional use, you can purchase a knife specially built for Sushi chefs, or else a regular sharp knife will do good. However, using a dull knife will squish sushi and create a mess.
Rice Cooker
If you talk about rice, use Japanese rice to make perfect Sushi rolls compared to other rice. To prepare Sushi rolls, cook the rice appropriately. It is where a rice cooker comes into play. Japanese restaurants use suihanki which is also a rice cooker that works on electricity rather than flame.
You can also use an electric cooker to prepare Sushi rolls as it makes the cooking process convenient. There won’t be the tension of burning or over boiling of rice. There is a vast range to pick from, depending on your budget and requirements. You can also use a simple cooker or cook the rice in a pan if you don’t have one.
Sushi Bowl
Once the rice is boiled, please don’t leave it there in the cooker. Transfer it to a big bowl and allow it to cool down. You can also use this bowl to keep water while spreading the rice on the mat so that your hands stay non-sticky. For this process, you can use a wooden container called ‘Hangiri’ like Japanese style.
Paddle
It’s not easy to use hands to spread the rice or mix ingredients. Therefore you will need a rice paddle. Use it to mix rice vinegar and other seasonings into the rice to add a unique flavor. You might have heard it as ‘shamoji.’ It keeps your workstation as well as your hands clean.
Bamboo Mat
If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine, the term ‘makisu’ is not new for you. With a bamboo mat, you can roll maki and California rolls easily. As per your desire, you can shape it circular or square. Remember to use plastic wrap on the bamboo mat; otherwise, rice will stick to the mat.
Optional Equipment
You can wear sushi gloves to prevent your hands from sticky rice or a fishy smell. However, this equipment is entirely optional, and you can manage without it.
Besides, using a hand fan will be more convenient to cool the rice quickly, adding authenticity.
Arrange these tools before preparing a sushi dish and see how you have become an expert for the first time itself. Enjoy the delicious taste and good health of sushi!
