Hello World! Welcome Friends! With the completion of the Breakfast Nook, it’s time to look at the Family Room and get the plan going for this space. We are really pleased with how the Breakfast Nook turned out and want to do justice to the Family Room.
One update has happened in the Family Room with the curtain panels finally going up on the back windows.
We used the same panels that were used in the Breakfast Nook to keep the look consistent. The plan is to replace the gold chairs with a pair of barrel chairs in a fun fabric. Also, all of the pillows are going to be replaced with lighter and brighter fabric. Goodness, I need to get that back hall painted!
I have been scouring the internet for fabrics that I would like to use to replace the existing pillows and to make curtain panels. I’m really loving these two for fabric choices for pillows and one for curtain panels in the Formal Dining Room and Study. I could spend hours looking at fabrics. Both of these fabrics I found on Fabric.com. They are a great spot to shop quilting fabric for your DIY projects as well. They have so much to choose from, that I had a hard time picking these two. Fabric is such an easy way to update and change the look of your decor. From pillows, table runners, curtains, or even covering an old cushion; it’s the fastest and easiest way to make a huge change without busting the bank!
Malakos Malachite – This lovely I want to use for some pillows, and maybe cover a chair or two in the Study.
Lucy Eden – This one I’m eyeing for curtain panels.
I’m still working on figuring out how to photograph this house. The back wall of windows is proving to be a challenge when taking photos. Replacing the fireplace surround is also on our to do list.
This shot is my view from the kitchen sink.
The gold chairs have been great, but it’s time for a different shape. They will most likely end up in the game room upstairs once I decide what to do with that space.
I love how the fabric ties in the gold and of course the blue! Where would I be without blue and white! It’s a staple in my house.
I’m pulling in more green and I’m yearning for some green and white accent chairs in other spaces in the house.
Nothing like a couple of reflection pics!
The touches of red, green and light blue in the panels are perfect for tying in all of my decor.
I had a sweet friend who came over to see the Breakfast Nook in person the other day. She stood there taking it all in, turned to me and said, “Girl, you just need a Versailles!”. I think she might be right. LOL.
Those are the changes for now. Looking for barrel chairs that I can customize with upholstery choices for the Family Room, fabric for pillows, and possibly thinking of getting a round end table to go between the two couches and losing the sofa table I have behind the light beige sofa. I promise to share a picture of the other side of the Family Room soon. But, I really need to figure out the best time to photograph the space. The wide, whole room shots don’t look so great right now. I have too much light coming in! Trust me, I’d rather have that problem than no light at
all!

I will be anxious to see how you follow up here. I have never done anything like this but we moved into our home two years ago. Since then we have painted, updated the flooring and switched out pillows etc. but I know the family room windows need an added punch. They are screaming out for drapery panels. I was pleased to see you added a fabric site that you have actually used. I really don’t even know where to begin. I don’t sew but I do have someone that could make these for me. We have exceedingly tall ceilings so I know these panels will get a lot of attention and make a big difference. Your fabrics are both lovely. The green is a nice companion for that colorful light and vivid pattern. I’m inspired. 😀

The breakfast nook turned out to be amazing. I like the fabric choices that you’re looking at for drapery panels. Isn’t it interesting how completing one renovation project sparks another one — kind of a snowball effect.

Thank you, Carol! That snowball effect is in full force here in the house. LOL Have a lovely week!

The breakfast nook wallpaper is gorgeous and the mirror is perfect! I’ll be checking back for more pictures of your beautiful home.

Thank you, Susan! The wall treatment in the breakfast nook is a stencil. It was time consuming, but so worth it! Have a great rest of the week.

Would you be willing to let we readers in on the fabric name and maker of your drapery panels?
