Hello World! Welcome Friends! When you are creating an office in your home, chances are you want it to look good. You don’t want to just throw something together that sticks out like a sore thumb against the rest of your nicely designed house. The key to creating a stylish home office is to start with some classic, simple pieces. The style is found in the details. It’s all about what you add that creates the stylish space you crave.
The Right Furniture Choices
A stylish office will have furniture that looks as if it was made for the space, and the only way to do that is to make sure that they fit the space and your overall design aesthetic. You can go with wood or metal, but if you want to help keep the space warm and bright, which is a hallmark of style, then you should consider upholstered furniture. Upholstery is also a little nicer to sit on.
Choosing an upholstered chair can also add a great focal point to your office. You can choose from a wide range of upholstery fabrics to match the design you have created for your space. You may even choose a fabric that has a cool design, which you can then pull colors from to use in the details in your design.

Inspiration Board
A really hot idea right now in design is something called an inspiration board. This is a bulletin board where you can hang things that motivate you, represent your goals, or otherwise influence you to move towards what you want to accomplish. The board can be a great design detail. You can use a simple bulletin board, but for a more stylish approach, consider using a fabric covered board with ribbons to tuck items into for display. An inspiration board can be a great way to liven up a bare wall.
Floating Shelves
Many times, space in limited in a home office. To help maximize the space, consider floating shelves, which are very trendy. These shelves can make good use of wall space and look great over a desk. They also come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors. They also offer a great storage solution without taking up valuable floor space.
Lighting
Lighting is of great importance in a home office design. If you want the room to be stylish, it needs a lot of light. If you are lucky, you will have a nice window or windows that allow in natural light. However, if your space doesn’t get a lot of natural light, then you’ll need to fake it. Add in lighting sources that will illuminate the space and keep it bright and alive. Lamps or other lights can even add pops of color to a room and further be used to enhance the all-over style.
Bright Colors
As you are designing your office and choosing the different pieces, you should make sure that you are choosing bright colors. Even if you prefer a more neutral color scheme, add in a few pops of color here there that will complement the other colors you have chosen. A bright color added to a neutral palette can take an office space from boring to stylish. Color is a tool that all the top designers use, so don’t forget about it in your design.
Personal Touches
The single best way to create a stylish office space is to add in some personal touches. Maybe you can frame a piece of art your child did in school or perhaps you get a custom made desk. Even something as simple as a monogrammed trashcan can add a bit of personalization to a room. Making the place personal, makes it much more inviting. It will be more likely that you will want to work in it if you create a personal connection to the office.
All of these details and ideas can help you to create the most stylish home office space. Great tips. I don’t have an office. I craft in the kitchen and blog in one of my favorite chairs. I love that white desk. Gorgeous.
