Hello World! Welcome Friends! Precious little ladies walking down the aisle in gorgeous flower girl dresses, scattering petals and smiling gleefully. A sight to make every wedding guest beam! The experience of being a flower girl is something your chosen girls will never forget. But it can be a little confusing and overwhelming, especially for the very young girls. You can make their experience more fun, relaxing and special by having a special chat with them prior to the wedding.

Here’s our list of what you need to communicate with your flower girls before your wedding.
They’ve been specially chosen
Let your flower girls know that they have been chosen for this special task because of how wonderful they are. Let them know that it’s a very important job and that you are so excited to have them as part of the wedding. This will ensure your flower girls feel excited, special and ready for the big day.
They can take their time
Your flower girls might get a little overwhelmed and be tempted to rush down the aisle, especially if they have stage fright. Let your flower girls know that they don’t need to rush. They can simply take their time as they walk down the aisle, as long as they keep moving forward. This will help them to feel relaxed and prepared on the big day.
They can practice at home
Tell your special little girls that they can practice their walking and petal throwing at home. Make it sound fun and exciting to put on their prettiest dress, pick a bunch of flowers from the garden and practice with siblings or parents in place of the bride and other flower girls. This will not only make them feel more excited and important, but it will help them to be ready and prepared for the day!
They can have a buddy if they like
If you have multiple flower girls, ask them if they would like to walk down the aisle as a pair. This is especially helpful if you have very young flower girls (between 3 and 5) and older ones (up to 8). The older girls can make sure the younger girls are happy and ready to go. By matching the girls up, they can feel more confident together in front of the crowd as they walk down the aisle. This way, they can have more fun and create special memories together.
They shouldn’t eat food in their flower girl dresses
You don’t want your pretty ivory flower girl dresses covered in spilled food or drink before the wedding! Gently tell the girls (and the parents who are looking after them on the day) that they should eat and drink before putting their flower girl dresses on. Once the ceremony and photos are over, they can go ahead and enjoy the meal and cake freely!
Conclusion
Let your flower girls know that what you really want is for them to have a fun time with lots of smiles! Gently let them know how important and special they are to your wedding ceremony, but don’t overwhelm them or they may feel under pressure. As soon as they see and try on their gorgeous flower girl dresses they won’t be able to stop smiling!
