Hello World! Welcome Friends! One of the first things people notice when they walk into a room are the windows, and along with them, the window curtains! Choosing attractive curtains to accent your windows is one of the great joys of home decoration as you ponder what type of curtains are best for your style statement. There are so many choices!
So, before you go out shopping to buy curtains have a look at what’s available first! We have listed some of the most popular types of curtains to help you prepare!
Pleated Curtains
These look traditional as well as quite formal. Most pleated curtains are constructed from fabrics of a thicker type to provide a rich, full appearance. There are various styles of pleats that can be used to accent your room in the way you prefer:
- Pinch Pleat Curtains – A pinch pleat is a style that is pinched off at the top, allowing the folds of fabric to flow downwards to foster a highly elegant look and feel. Pinched pleat curtains are also known as tailored pleats, and are available in a range from two-finger to five-finger pleated styles. To create a fuller appearance simply use more pleats! This is a type of curtain that makes master bedrooms and formal entertaining rooms look regal.
- Box Pleat Curtains – These have deep running folds across their length to provide you with full coverage and a meticulous, tailored look. These are great for casual bedrooms as well as for family-oriented informal dining rooms.
- Goblet Pleat Curtains – These look fantastic in a formal room that features high ceilings. Their shape somewhat resembles that of a goblet, which lends it their name. This kind of pleat isn’t very sturdy, so use goblet curtains to only frame the window, meaning they stay in one place and you don’t draw them open or closed.
- Pencil Pleat Curtains – These are highly versatile, thin, single pleats that can be used with a variety of curtain rods and hooks. They are casual and look great in an informal setting.
Eyelet or Grommet Curtains
This is a highly contemporary style featuring grommets, which are open rings supporting the panels. The rings allow you to slide the curtains open with ease, making them a great choice for any room you enjoy letting the sun into frequently. The grommets also show off the curtain hardware, so aesthetically pleasing curtain rods and finials will look great.
Rod-Pocket Curtains
These also go by the name cased heading curtains. A casual style made of sheer, or lightweight fabrics. They are a breeze to assemble, just slip the rod through the pocket in the material! This kind of curtain panel requires a tight-fitting, thin curtain rod. Rod-pocket curtains look wonderful over a functional second layer such as blackout curtains.
Now that you have some choices to consider, you can select your next set of curtains to perfectly suit your décor! Opening and closing your curtains has never felt so great!
