Hello World! Welcome Friends! One by one, I’m checking off projects from my massive project to do list! I have wanted to tackle our China Hutch for quite some time to give it a fresh update. Since I’m working in the Entry Hall and the China Hutch will have its home in the Entry Hall, I decided to go ahead and update the Hutch. The China Hutch was the first piece of furniture Greg and I bought together as newlyweds when we lived in the East Bay of San Francisco, California.
China Hutch Makeover
As you can tell, this section of the Entry Hall is complete along with the freshly painted hall door and updated hardware and hinges. Let me remind you of what this section looked like before.
The baby diarrhea color on the trim and door is so longer! I can honestly say I don’t miss it! As you can see the place where the China Hutch landed is directly across from the Dining Room. The Dining Room will be the next space that gets a makeover. Stay tuned for that makeover.
Let’s throw open the doors and have a look around. I love mixing blue and white with green. The green makes such a nice backdrop for the blue and white to dance off of. The green is Direct Green 6924 from Sherwin Williams in a Gloss finish. Just look at that shine on the bottom shelf.
My Blue and White Collection has grown over the years and will continue to grow in the future. Most of these pieces were either gifts from loved ones or I purchased them from Hobby Lobby and Home Goods with a couple of pieces being found at a local thrift store.
I didn’t need to update the hinges on the China Hutch since they were already a pretty gold.
You can spy the new door handle on the hall door in its polished brass glory. My plans are to mix between polished brass and satin brass throughout the house.
To the right of the door towards the bottom on the trim is one of the new door stoppers. It is perfectly chunky and pretty and does its job of stopping the door!
I wanted to include this shot so you can get a look at the painted trim. The ceilings in this section of the Entry Hall are 10ft. and were so much fun to paint! Not! The ceiling color is Sherwin Williams Flat White Ceiling Paint, the wall color is First Star 7646 from Sherwin Williams in a Eggshell finish with the trim being High Reflective White 7757 from Sherwin Williams in a Semi-Gloss.
All of the hardware except for the hinges on the China Hutch received a fresh coat of Metallic Gold Paint.
The details on the hardware can be seen so much better with the gold paint.
The bottom handle is the Before, and the top handle had one coat of the gold paint. I did a couple of coats to really make it stand out and give it nice depth.
The door is Inky Blue 9149 from Sherwin Williams in a Semi-Gloss finish.
Well, that’s it for our China Hutch Makeover. I’m still doing some work in the first section of the Entry Hall and we need to hang the chandelier in that section. I will need to help Greg with this because this will definitely be a two person job. I want to add one more coat of paint on the ceiling before we hang the chandelier so it may be a couple of days or a week until we get time to work on it together. He’s slated to go out of town later this week for work. So, we are working on our flexibility and our patience!

Lovely! And I am so, SOOO glad you didn’t paint this hutch white. (I’ve seen that disaster on one of the home sites I visit). You’ve got a great way to show off dishes.

This is so lovely, a bit of a trip down memory lane for me. My mum had a collection of blue and white china, similar to yours, she just picked up bits and pieces as she saw them. They look great with the green background.
That blue on the doors is just gorgeous too, I bet it transforms the space.

Awe, thanks so much, Julie! It’s such a happy little space!

Those gold handles shine! What paint did you use?
thededicatedhouse@gmail.com says
It is Rustoleoum Metallic Gold. However, I did not spray paint them since the handles cannot be taken off the chest. I sprayed some of the paint in a little container outside, then painted it on with one of my daughter’s little art brushes. Thank you for stopping by! Happy week to you!

Hopped over from today’s instagram post. Since our visit to Williamsburg last spring I have wanted to paint something with this shade of green. It’s similar to one of the main rooms in the Governor’s Palace. Only they had bright gold trim! I’m ordering some of that paint now for one of our built-ins. Thanks for the inspiration. Beautiful!!

Linda, thank you for the visit and the kind words. Excited to see your built-ins!!
