Hello World! Hello World! Welcome Friends! We all approach selling our homes in different ways. Some of us are willing to put the property on the market as it comes. There’s no point in changing things when you’ll leave soon anyway, right? Others go the complete opposite way. They do everything from decorating to cleaning like their lives depend on it. In some cases, they may even opt to buy new furniture to make the space more appealing.
It may sound like madness, but this may not be as outlandish as you think. In truth, we all look more at furniture during viewings than we should. Be honest; do you find it harder to envision yourself in an empty house? If yes, then you, too, have fallen foul. So, it should come as no surprise that decent design choices could be enough to seal a deal. They’ll certainly play more of a part than you may have been expecting.
But, before spending a fortune on furniture, ask yourself the following questions to ensure it’s worth your while.
Can you take those pieces with you?
This is a trickier question than you’d think. After all, you won’t know where you’re moving at this stage. But, you should have some idea of whether you’re going bigger, smaller, or staying the same. And, that’s worth thinking about. If you’re downsizing, new furniture is nonsensical. You’d only have to get rid after selling. However, if you’re planning to move to a bigger house or even one the same size, you can at least take those pieces with you. Thus, you could easily argue they’re an investment. Not to mention that buying now could save you time when you’re busy moving. As such, this is a no-brainer.
Will buying furniture get in the way?
It’s also worth asking whether buying furniture will get in the way of viewings. For the most part, this refers to delivery times. When your house is on the market, a viewing could happen any day. It’s not going to look great if furniture turns up when people are looking around. Even if your items do arrive at an appropriate time, ask whether they’d cause issues like mess or smells. That new bed frame may look fantastic, but as you can see from something like these mattress complaints, many new mattresses can cause unpleasant smells to start with. Not to mention that plastic coating and cardboard could create an unappealing mess by your bins. If you aren’t careful, either of these could undo any good you’re attempting to achieve.
Do you need it?
It’s also crucial that you ask yourself if you really need new furniture. In truth, something as simple as a change of layout could achieve the same and cost nothing. Admittedly, that may not cover stains and tears on your sofa. But, you could always make it pretty again by covering your cushions in new fabric. This will cost less than half the price, and can still make your house look its very best.
