Hello World! Welcome Friends! A garden is a great way to make use of any empty space on your property. There are many ways to build up a beautiful garden and here are just a few of them. If you have an unused corner in your backyard, why not plant some trees or flowers? You can also create a herb garden if you have the space for it.
But don’t forget that there are other ways to use your yard too! For example, you could create a lovely little sitting area with benches or chairs. This is a great idea for the front of your house. And it’s also easy to install lighting so that you can enjoy your garden at night too! You only need to take a look at what people are posting on Facebook to see how fun summer out of the house can be. This will definitely be an inviting spot for any guests or family members who stop by.
As well as making use of your garden, you should also think about installing a garden shed. If there’s an area which isn’t being used in the garden, why not put up some shelves and store all your tools there? You can even set up a little workstation so that it is easy to take care of any gardening tasks whenever you want to. This will be much more convenient than having everything stored in your house and it’ll also keep your garden looking nice at all times!
If you are building a new structure on your property, for gardening tools or anything else, it is important to check your local restrictions and planning regulations before you start anything. You don’t want to end up with a fine if you’re just trying to make a new garden!
When some people hear the word garden they instantly think of flowers and trees, quiet spaces filled with the scents of nature and the sounds of birds. Other might at first cast their mind to vegetables grown in rich soil fertilized by hard work and dedication. Both of these garden ideas are, of course, correct and can even exist side by side.
The important thing is to start your garden with a clear idea of what you want to achieve. Make no mistake whether your garden grows flowers, vegetables or both you will need to put in a lot of hard work. Before you put trowel to soil make sure you have planned out at least a rough guide as to how your garden will look and what plants will go where. Do you want a mixture of bright flowers and fast-growing herbs? Should each flower bed contain only one type of flower or a mixture of several? It is always a good idea to have a clear idea from the start.
You should also keep your tax obligation in mind, improving your property’s value is always positive but it can change your tax rate. A quick look at the ATOs website should answer some of the more basic questions but if you are still not sure or think the level of your improvements might be on the larger size it might be good to talk to an accountant.
You also need to be able to plan for the seasons. We might not have as varied a climate here in Victoria as those further north might but still need to keep your eye on the calendar. Many plants only bloom during certain times of the year so it is important to keep an eye on them and note if and when they bloom. The changing seasons also affect what care each plant requires to survive and thrive. Is it raining a lot? You might need to invest in some drainage to keep your soil at the right moisture level. A few weeks of only sunny days? Check that your garden is getting the water it needs.
If you are focusing on a more food orientated garden all this is extra important. Any veggies or fruit has its growing season and it’s picking or harvesting season. It’s important that your veggies are getting the right amount of water and nutrients each day so that they can grow to be as big as possible. Similarly, we want to know when the perfect time to harvest is so that you get the best veggies possible without them rotting in the ground!
You want to be able to enjoy your garden, preferably even before it is finished. It can be easy to burn yourself out if you spend too much time each day weeding, planting or doing whatever you need to do around your new garden. Don’t push yourself too hard as you create your perfect garden, make sure to slow down and smell the roses!
