Hello World! Welcome Friends! We often neglect bathrooms or give them less preference when it comes to remodeling and maintenance. But, this shouldn’t be the case as the bathroom is one of the most functional units of your home that needs timely up gradation. It’s the place to treat our bodies and pamper our skin, so it must be planned in a way to ensure maximum workability and modern remodeling.
Best Bathroom Remodel
While talking about bathrooms, the shower space is an important part that must be a separate unit from the other components of the bathroom due to its diverse functionality. It must be a place with all the required accessories, giving the feel of privacy and solitude as well.
But, what if you have a single space for your shower and toilet? An ideal solution for this is to install a partition for your shower space. But, how? Traditionally, a shower curtain was used to fulfill the need, but most of the contemporary bathrooms prefer a glass shower door.
Shower glass doors have not completely replaced the traditional hanging shower curtains as many people still prefer a shower curtain over shower glass door. The shower curtains vs glass shower door is a never-ending debate as each has its own leads and perks when it comes to the cost, durability, purposefulness, space, and appearance.
If you find yourself looking at shower enclosures and getting confused about choosing the best one for your bathroom remodel, then here are a few key comparisons that will assist you in making your decision.
The Appearance of Your Space
Shower curtains are the conventional shower separations that have been used for decades. With the passage of time, new varieties of fabrics and prints have added variants to the touch of trendiness and beauty to your space.
But if you are looking for a chic and modern remodeling of your bathroom, a glass shower door is definitely your best bet. It gives a sense of coziness and seclusion, completely parting your shower from lavatories. In contrast to the shower curtains, glass shower doors drastically change the look of your bathroom.
Space in Your Bathroom
The size of your bathroom plays a crucial role in opting for shower curtains vs glass shower. Glass shower doors require a proper frame to be installed, so if you have a spacious bathroom, you can go for it without any concern. However, for small walk-in kind of spaces, glass doors become an added hassle.
On the other hand, shower curtains make space appear more roomy and breathable. Playing thoughtfully with the texture and color of your shower curtains will yield the perception of a larger space even in small bathrooms.
Cost and Maintenance
Glass shower doors are no doubt an expensive installment and cost much more than shower curtains. But if we look at long term cost effectiveness, glass shower doors are long-lasting. The tempered glass separation lasts for several years and does not require much maintenance apart from regular cleaning and scrubbing.
Contrary to this, shower curtains require frequent replacement and maintenance. They easily build up mold and mildew. Furthermore, they need to be washed and changed regularly. And, they often get faded or lose their suppleness after every few months and have to be replaced.
Glass shower doors are a blessing in this instance as they make your life free from the hassle of constant replacement and installment. They add convenience to your life but at an enhanced cost, for sure, however you can also add cheap improvements like shower panels from Floors To Walls UK.
The Versatility of Your Bathroom
Glass shower doors add a contemporary and state of the art appearance to your most intimate yet functional space. They retain their new look for years with just an added protective coating, and you won’t need a replacement for a decade or so. But this constant structure is bound to make you bored of the same sight for years.
Contrary to this, shower curtains are easily replaceable. You can change their colors and designs for giving a complete new look to your space.
Hygiene Features of Shower Curtain vs Glass Shower Partition
If you are using shower curtains you must have witnessed the slipping and dropping down of shower drapes and the nasty feel it gives to the viewer. They are easier to accumulate mildew and are injurious to health. Most shower curtains are made with PVC materials that release toxic elements hazardous for the human respiratory system and the nervous system. They particularly have more adverse effects on babies and younger kids.
Though you can find shower curtains made without PVC materials, they still carry some proportion of polycarbonate-based plastic not suitable for human interaction.
On the other hand, glass shower doors are perfectly fit for human interaction and do not release any toxic element. Moreover, they are free from fear of falling off and causing injury.
Final Words
Shower curtain vs glass shower is a matter of choice and preference. If you have ample space and enough budget then opting for a glass shower door is certainly a wise decision. However, it’s not essential enough to break your finances as shower curtains are equally good and serve the purpose effectively.

I really love the look of shower curtains and doors. It just depends on the style of the bathroom. Our master has a glass door, while our guest bathrooms have shower curtains. Have a great one and thank you for sharing at Celebrate Your Story! Hugs!

I went with shower curtains in my new home. Easier to clean, and while most of the new glass ones look great, so can good curtains. Easier to change out if need comes to crunch, too.

When choosing we should consider maintenance and cleaning. If you choose glass over curtain it’s understandable that it needs to be cleaned and maintained every day. While curtains may need little cleaning and it can be replaced quickly. While Glass doors cannot be changed quickly, you may need glass installers and it may take time to re-install. Hope this help’s.
