Hello World! Welcome Friends! Our homes are our sanctuaries. The places where we can feel truly comfortable, and can relax, unwind, and “recharge our batteries,” after a difficult day or week at work.
At least, that’s more or less how the idea goes. In many cases, however, our homes end up unfortunately not living up to this standard as well that should, as bad home habits get entrenched that can undermine your sense of well-being, and can make it more difficult for you to relax and to unwind.
So, what sort of negative habits in the home can have this detrimental effect, and can undermine your sense of well-being in this way?
Here are some examples.
Beginning All Sorts of Household Projects, and Then Leaving Them Unfinished
One of the most common issues that ends up affecting and undermining people’s sense of well-being, balance, and harmony in the home is beginning all sorts of different household projects, and then leaving them unfinished.
This can take many forms. It may take form of moving into a new home, having the movers deliver your belongings, and then only starting the unboxing process – but taking months to finish it. Or it could take the form of beginning a DIY project and then losing steam halfway, and leaving exposed pipes and other unappealing features in your home as a constant reminder that you are meant to be doing something.
Beginning different projects and leaving them unfinished naturally makes the household environment more stressful, and is likely to eat away at your sense of comfort and well-being too, in the form of the nagging guilty sensation that tells you that you should really be dealing with these tasks.
Allowing Allergens to Accumulate that Caused you to Feel Chronically Slightly Unwell
Many people have low-level allergies to things like dust mites, that may not seem like a major issue in the course of everyday life, but that can cause chronic low-level inflammation in a situation where those allergens have been allowed to accumulate.
If your home accumulates different allergens – whether in the form of dust, pet dander, mold spores, or a variety of other things – and you aren’t properly thorough when it comes to cleaning behind desks, sofas, wardrobes, and so on, you may end up feeling chronically slightly unwell in your home.
Be sure to air the place out regularly, and to give it a thorough clean often.
Not Having a System for Regularly Staying on Top of Key Chores
If your core household chores end up accumulating, and you don’t have a reliable system for staying on top of them, this will naturally tend to generate both mess and stress.
Having a cleaning rota, or using habit tracker, are just two things that you can do which may help you to change the bedding regularly, keep the dishes from piling up, and making sure that the bins are emptied at the right intervals.
