Hello World! Welcome Friends! Autumn is the best time for you to get rid of any dead vegetation that you may have left over from summer. It is also the best time for you to give your borders a good tidy and for you to clear out your gutters. If you want to get some help with your garden renovation or if you want to get things as tidy as possible, then this is the guide for you.
Scrub Off Shading
As the nights begin to get longer, you have to make the most out of the light you do have. One way for you to do this would be for you to scrub any shade paint that you might have on your greenhouse windows. This will let more of the sun’s rays in through the glass and it will also help the temperature in the greenhouse to climb that little bit higher. This will save you a lot of money if you need to heat your greenhouse in winter. All you need when scrubbing your greenhouse windows is some hot water and some elbow grease. Now is a very good time for you to be replacing the damaged panes that you have as well as your greenhouse gutters. If you can do this, then you will soon find that you are able to get the best result out of your garden in general. Adding mulch and compost at this point is also a very good idea.
Autumn Cleaning
Now is a good time for you to disinfect your pathways as well as your staging. A hot solution will help you to get rid of any fungal infections or pests that may have made your garden their home. After you have done this, you ideally need to ventilate your greenhouse so you can get it dried out thoroughly. If you have some pots, then give them a good clean and also take care of your seed trays. If you can do this now, then you will be able to get them sorted out for spring sowing as well as for planting.
Tidy Up the Borders
If you want to have a very vibrant display when spring comes along then now is the time for you to dig up your annual plants. You then need to plant some pansies, some wallflowers as well as some bellis daisies. If you can cut back any faded perennials, then this will help you out a lot. Try and make sure that you cut them back to around 5cm above ground level but make sure that you are not too tidy here. If you have some nice attractive seed heads, then this will help to attract all kinds of good insects to your garden, and you may find that it looks amazing in the autumn dew too. When you have your borders sorted out, now would be the time for you to add some compost as well as some bark chips. Manure is very good here. Don’t worry too much about digging it in because the worms will do it all for you. By doing this now, you will save yourself a huge job when spring comes along so be mindful of this if you can.

Hi Kathryn! I am an avid gardener and am just getting a couple of garden beds established. Thank you for sharing these tips . This weekend, as you suggest, I plan to apply some manure to the beds and to remove my annuals. We are already getting frost warnings . . .
