Hello World! Well today is the day! I was so excited when Jemma asked me to be apart of the ‘Tis the Season Christmas Tour. I didn’t have to think twice about what I was going to share. The one question I get asked frequently is how do I make my garland that is on my banister, china hutch and entertainment center. Do you want to see?
I either like simple greenery or completely encrusted. I’m definitely in an encrusted kind of mood.
How do I make them, you ask? It’s so simple.
Wrap your garland in your choice of lights. I prefer white.
Next up, wrap the garland in your choice of ribbon. I went with a blue ribbon, white with gold accents ribbon, and gold ribbon.
Then I used a ton of plastic ornaments with the tops pulled off. After the tops have been pulled off, I shove the ornaments onto the individual branches. No need for hooks or ties.
If I don’t like the placement; it’s no big deal. I just pull off the ornament and pick another spot.
No hot glue needed and it’s not permanent. If a strand of light blows, which happened last year; all you need to do is pull everything off and start again.
Now for the best part. I store them exactly as you see here in large rubbermaid containers. No need to take them apart. It took me all of 30 minutes to “fluff” all of the garlands and hang them.

Your garland looks fabulous, Kathryn! You have that decorator's touch! I saw on an HGTV show a few years back about removing the tops on ornaments and sticking them into the stems when decorating a tree. You went a step further and made your garland look absolutely gorgeous! I love the mixture of blues, gold and silver!
Love it, Kathryn! You make that seem doable and if I were to look at your garland without your tutorial I would have thought I wouldn't be able to do that without a lot of time and wire! Your garland is just beautiful. Have enjoyed being on this tour with you!

Ok now the secret is out and I love that you have shared this with us! I have a friend who just like you has the most amazing garland- on her mantles. I have always wondered how she accomplished this-just gorgeous and thank you so much for the tutorial! Next year I will be using your tip! Kathryn, the garland is gorgeous! I wondered how you could possibly create such a lush look but would never have guessed how you did it. Like someone said above, it might be doable, even for me! Your colors are lovely and that fabric on the back of your china hutch just sets them off right. The fabric reminds me of colors in the old Blue Onion china pattern.

Your blue garland is simply beautiful. I love the way it wraps around your hutch and stairs with such ease. I noticed the blue china in your hutch also. For some reason, blue tea cups are the prettiest to me. My wedding china was even in BLUE. It was so nice meeting you through the blog tour.
