Hello World! Welcome Friends! Finding your home decor style can be somewhat of a challenge. I know when I was trying to pinpoint my home decor style I had to take some time and study what the different elements are that make up each design aesthetic. My decor style is Traditional Glam with a strong leaning towards French Country. No Bohemian or Minimalism for this girl. However, I do dream about having a Mid-Century Modern vacation house in Palm Springs. Wouldn’t that be fun? Currently we are planning our Master Bedroom makeover taking our traditional bedroom and adding a French Country twist with new furniture and looking at new bedding from Julian Charles. But, of course I need to finish the Powder Room remodel first. Okay back to Decor Styles. Below I’ve listed 4 design aesthetics that encompass the different home decor styles.
Casual Style
Casual Styles infuse comfort, warmth and relaxation into the space. Farm House, Bohemian, Coastal, Rustic, Shabby and Cottage fall into this category. This style is usually accomplished with rustic design, and soft furniture with textured fabrics. It’s all about creating a cozy and comfortable space that is free from rules.
Formal Style
Elegance, symmetry and exquisite furniture make up the Formal Style. Formal style is very straightforward. There will not be mixing of styles within the Formal Style. A good description would be elegance, polished woods, high ceilings, tall windows with spaces decorated with antiques and imported woods. Also, decorative trims and mouldings are a must with this type of interior.
Contemporary Style
The contemporary look includes a simplistic and subtle sophistication. The structural elements are simplistic, smooth and geometric. Mid-Century Modern, Minimalism and Modern fall into this category.
Traditional Style
Traditional style can be also known as classic. It’s really nothing new, but a classic style revamped with fabrics, window treatments, accessories, bedding and details to give it a fresh new look. It’s an old favorite that never goes out of style. Traditional style can be the foundation for many different looks such as French Country, Swedish Style, Tuscan Style and Paris Apartment Style. The Traditional Style will always be here to stay.
What is your favorite style? My advice is to embrace what you love and be bold in your choices.
