Hello World! Welcome Friends! There is a little known fact about me that you may not be aware of. I love to cross stitch! There is nothing more relaxing than to sit down and stitch away. However, I haven’t had time to do much stitching, but it is on my list get back to it, pronto! It is one of the most satisfying hobbies I have. I love seeing my work come to life one stitch at a time.
Using embroidery work in decor is nothing new. In fact, a properly placed embroidery within a gallery can be quite stunning. In fact, I have plans to decorate my office with some of my stitch work that I have worked on in the past. I’ve been looking around at patterns that I think will coordinate well with the design theme I have in mind.
There are so many patterns to choose from. From gardens, houses, fairies, sports, to baby and children patterns; there’s something for everyone. Stitch work is perfect as a gift when you want to give a personalized gift. I cannot tell you how many baby showers I have been to where the mother to be received a gift that was embroidered.
While perusing embroidery scissors and supplies online to make sure I have everything I need to get started on my projects, Little Dedicated of course had to weigh in with one of her favorites that she wants me to stitch for her room. She thinks the pretty lady below would be perfect with her decor.
I have to say, I quite agree. Embroidery is not something that is a quick project. In fact, a detailed pattern can take quite some time. However, I find the more intricate the pattern, the more satisfying the journey.
So, tell me if you are a lover of embroidery or stitch work. I would love to hear if I have some kindred spirits out there amongst The Dedicated House readers.

I haven’t cross stitched in a long time. A group of moms used to get together to cross stitch one big item for our school’s fundraising auction. One time we did all the pieces of a nativity. It was beautiful! Although the cost to have it professionally finished (turned into little pillows that stood up) was high. The last things I did were some adorable mitten Christmas tree ornaments. I’d love to find some more small projects like that to do.

What a wonderful story! My mom stitched some ornaments years ago that we still have and put on our tree every year! Thank you for stopping by. I think I may get some time to get the Anything Blue Friday party live Friday night. Have a lovely evening.

I was so excited to read this Kathryn! I am an avid cross stitcher and use so many pieces to decorate our home ( especially seasonal designs)! Can’t wait to see what you decide to stitch!
Have a great weekend!

How interesting that you would write about this today. I found my cross stitch “bag”, for lack of a better word when I was cleaning my closet today. I’ve already given away all my embroidery floss but had saved a few things. I think it’s time to donate them as well. I hate to have stuff in a closet when there is someone who might use it.

I’ve got a couple of closets I need to purge as well. Cross stitch is one of those hobbies that I’m either completely engrossed in or I don’t touch it at all. I need to find a happy balance. LOL Thanks for stopping by!!
