Hello World! Welcome Friends! Trenchless sewer line repair is growing in popularity. But what exactly is trenchless sewer lining, and how does it work?
After hydro and mechanically cleaning your pipes, technicians will pull an epoxy-covered sleeve through the existing pipe. The sleeve can fix minor leaks, cracks, and general wear and tear.
Pipe Lining
Pipelining is a less invasive approach to repairing damaged sewer pipes. The process involves inserting a new liner within existing pipes, creating a more robust and durable “pipe inside a pipe.” Compared to traditional excavation methods, it takes less time and labor.
Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining is the most commonly used trenchless sewer repair method. It involves inflating a felt tube with epoxy-saturated resin and sealing it into the interior of existing pipes. It creates a new, strong pipe that can resist corrosion and tree root infiltration.
The CIPP lining process requires residents to limit water and sewer use during the process. However, this restriction is only a few hours and will end when crews have left the work zone. Residents may experience a strong odor that smells like plastic or glue, but it should dissipate quickly. The new piping is expected to last 50 years or more, significantly longer than most older pipes’ lifespan.
Pipe Bursting
It’s sometimes necessary to completely replace your sewer lines. When this happens, it’s best to use trenchless sewer pipelining methods like pipe bursting or CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe) to avoid the considerable cost and mess associated with traditional excavation.
A particular head is pulled through the old pipes in the pipe-bursting method of trenchless sewer repair. This head expands and fractures the old pipes while dragging behind it a new pipe. It is an excellent option for replacing aging clay or Orangeburg pipes.
technique is also a good choice for replacing sewer lines where digging trenches is prohibited because of marshlands, swamps, or desert terrain. This method lets you easily install environmentally friendly high-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping.
Trenchless pipe bursting leaves a smaller footprint on your property, much quicker than the traditional method. It’s the perfect solution for homeowners or business owners who want to repair their sewer line quickly and without disrupting traditional excavation techniques.
Camera Inspection
Before work begins, your plumbing technician will feed a camera into your drain or sewer line to spot the damage. This feedback is essential for determining whether a pipe lining or another trenchless solution suits your property.
Once your plumber determines a pipe lining is a good option, they’ll begin cleaning the existing pipes. It involves hydro jetting, which uses high-pressure water sprayed from a multidirectional nozzle to break up and flush out grease, sludge, debris, and tree roots.
Once your pipes are cleaned, they’ll be ready to receive the CIPP liner. The liners are imbued with an epoxy resin that completely covers and seals the damaged pipes, creating a new structural pipe within your old one. It can address cracking, holes, channeling, and age deterioration. The result is a durable pipe that lasts up to 50 years.
Cleaning
Following a thorough inspection and hydro or mechanical cleaning, technicians insert a high-tech flexible tube saturated with epoxy into your sewer line. The epoxy is cured (hardened) to create a new structural surface that halts corrosion, eliminates leaky joints, and prevents root intrusion. Depending on the unique conditions of your sewer line, robotic instruments may be used to reopen branch lines.
Using this method, professionals dig just two access holes at both ends of the damaged pipe and install a liner that looks and acts like the original pipe, resulting in a new pipe with a lifetime use expectancy of up to 50 years!
Trenchless repair methods are much less damaging to your yard, landscaping, driveway, and other outdoor areas than traditional methods. It means that your home can be restored quickly and with minimal disruption to you and your family’s life. Trenchless sewer pipelining is also environmentally friendly. It’s a green solution that uses less energy and produces fewer emissions than traditional excavation techniques.
