DECLUTTER
Many people clutter their bathrooms with personal items, makeup, clothes and hair products to the point where you can’t see the counter space. Having a bunch of clutter in your bathroom can make it look smaller and un-organized and you’ll never feel calm and relaxed in a space such as this. Take items that you don’t regularly use and store them away out of sight. Invest in storage bins and organize the space underneath your cabinets. That’s the first step towards your relaxation haven!
CREATE EXTRA STORAGE
We all could use a little bit of extra space when storing our things. Do a little research on how spas store their items and get creative. There are so many cute little trinkets to store your necessities or show them off if you want to. Find pretty glass jars and fill them with things that you do use daily, wicker baskets to hold towels and tissue and shelves that you can store underneath the cabinets, above the toilet or tub and decorate them accordingly. Once you have your extra storage in place, there should be a place for everything you have in your spa-like space so you can stay clutter free.
CHOOSE RELAXING COLORS
Color may seem insignificant when taking on projects like this, but color is just as important as everything else. Think of the calming atmosphere you’re trying to create and find things conducive to make it happen. Choose colors that will make you feel like you are in a spa, colors that relax you such as neutrals, beiges, or pastels even. Those colors can add warmness to your bathroom. Blue is considered a very relaxing color because it makes people feel like they’re looking up into a sky or out at the ocean like we’ve taken a trip to the beach. Can you imagine trying to relax in a room that has been painted red, orange or some other bright color? I would imagine it would be a bit hard to relax in that type of atmosphere because those colors can actually energize you. The colors you choose for your spa space can make a world of difference when it comes to relaxation.
ADD A BIT OF NATURE
Plants and flowers add life to anything! Adding some greenery and flowers can turn your relaxing space into a natural comfortable environment that you’ll grow to appreciate. Not only will plants add oxygen and soak up carbon dioxide, it will also purify the air.
GET NEW PLUSH TOWELS AND RUGS
Plush towels and rugs are a must to create your spa-like environment. There’s nothing like wrapping yourself in big fluffy plush towels when your stepping out of a bath. If you want to step your game up, get a towel warmer for your new spa space and enjoy the luxurious feel of your heated towels all the time.
ADD CALMING ESSENTIAL OILS AND SOUND
Adding candles to your space is like having an aromatherapy session right at home. Scented soaps and essential oils are just the thing to get you in the mood and get you relaxed. Some essential oils can reduce stress, balance your hormone levels, relieve muscle aches and promote healing. So, while you’re relaxing in a warm luxurious bath, you’re also giving your body some good TLC. You can also get a water-proof Bluetooth speaker so that you can listen to calming music or even nature sounds such as rainfall, the ocean, birds and more.
ADD CANDLES
Not only will adding candles to your space add a relaxing ambiance. They also induce a sense of calmness, while adding a wonderful scent to your spa space. Candles can make any dull room inviting, soft and cozy. If you have dimming lights, put them on low and allow the candles to do the work for you.
ADD A BATHROOM CADDY
Adding a bathroom caddy may be a small touch but can be very helpful as well. A bathroom caddy can be very convenient for you while you’re relaxing. You can rest it along your tub while you have a cup of tea and read a good book. Or you can set your bath essentials on it and just relax.
ADD SHELVES
Adding shelves allows you to stick all of your spa essentials on your shelving units and keep the area free of clutter. You can fill clear glass jars with bath beads, and your other bath necessities or you can place some candles on the shelves as well as other places in the bathroom. You can put a few flowers or plants on them, basically whatever works for you and your taste.
Take your time to create your perfect space. The space should leave you feeling as though you never want to leave you perfect little retreat. You won’t need to go anywhere to get rest and relaxation because you will have your spa-like hideaway in the comfort of your own home. Feel free to switch up your essential oils, candles and sounds whenever you feel like doing something different. Being versatile won’t take much effort at all.

I find shelving to be so important in our bathroom. Especially as we are a family of five – everyone needs to have a space set aside for their items.

Thanks for sharing at Tuesday Turn About, Kathryn. I love the idea of using glass jars for storage… you can even fill them with decorative items to add a ‘spa-like’ feel (maybe sand with some starfish, or a succulent?) Pinned!
