Hello World! Welcome Friends! Did you know that the streaming service Netflix has over 15,000 unique titles on its streaming platform currently? If you want to stream the latest shows and movies, while also getting a theater-like experience, then you’ve come to the right place!
In this article, we’ll give you 8 tips and tricks for building a home theater. We’ll help you come up with a plan, a budget, and even tell you what to buy so you can build the theater room of your dreams.
On top of that, we’ll tell you a few common mistakes to avoid, too, so you can make sure the project goes as smoothly as possible.
Create a Plan First
Before you start buying projectors and surround sound speakers, you first want to come up with a plan for your theater setup. This plan will allow you to figure out what you want, which will then help you create a budget to follow going forward.
It goes without saying, but overspending on your setup isn’t a good idea. You’ll be left with buyer’s remorse, which will take away from the fun vibes of your setup, which isn’t what you want. Remember, home theater installation costs can add up quickly, so it’s important to have a solid plan in place. Don’t forget to consider factors like the size of your room, seating arrangements, and any special lighting or soundproofing needs.
Know Your Space Well
When you’re creating a plan for your setup, the biggest factor to consider is the size of your room. Knowing what you can do, and more importantly, what you can’t do, is the key to getting positive results.
A pro tip? Keep things simple. Don’t try to overcrowd your space with too much gear because you’ll be left with a cluttered mess that isn’t enjoyable to sit in for too long.
Focus Heavily on Comfort
To piggyback off of that last point, it’s can’t be overstated just how important being comfortable in your home theater room truly is. After all, you want to be able to watch a few movies in a row or binge-watch a TV show without feeling like you need to leave the room or get up and stretch.
Because of this, we recommend that you invest heavily in your theater room furniture. Sure, it’s not as fun to talk about as a fancy 4K projector, but you’ll be glad that you have a nice couch instead of that old futon when it’s all said and done.
Pick Your Screen Type
Once you sit down and start figuring out what gadgets you want, your first decision should be what kind of screen type you want. Your two choices? A large traditional television screen or a projector with a mounted screen.
If you decide to go the traditional TV route, all you need to do after that is mount it on your wall. A projector setup is a bit more complex but can be done easily, especially if you invest in a short-throw projector.
Invest in Quality Sound Equipment
Got your screen type picked out? Not sure where to go next? Take a look at what you need to do to get your sound system setup to be where you want it to be.
If you have a smaller room, you can most likely get away with only have a soundbar. But if you have a larger room, you may need to install a more complex surround setup that costs a bit more money.
Want to take your sound setup to the next level? Invest in wall foam, designed for a podcast studio, to better soundproof your room. That way your room is quieter, and thus, you can hear your movies, shows, and games better.
Know How to Hide Your Wires
No matter what kind of gear you buy, you’re most likely going to have a ton of wires that need to be hidden. The good news? There are tons of tools and devices that you can use to hide wires, and all of them are relatively cheap, too.
Just make sure that, above all else, that you do hide your wires. That will make your theater have the look and vibe that you’re looking for, which of course is important.
Create a Snack and Drinks Area
If you plan on spending more than a few hours at a time in your theater room, you’re going to want quick access to snacks and drinks.
If you don’t have enough space to build something elaborate, like a full-sized bar, don’t worry. Something as simple as a snack drawer or shelf and a mini-fridge is more than enough to get the job done.
Have Fun With Wall Decor
We touched on soundproofing for your walls earlier, and while we recommend it, it’s also not the only thing that you can hang up on your walls. In fact, if you have enough wall space to work with, we suggest that you go all out with your wall decor.
Things like movie posters, or even video game and TV show posters, are great theater room decor pieces. They also help you add a bit of personality to your space, which can make your room feel more like you.
