Hello World! Welcome Friends! Have you ever moved into a new house and struggled to make it your own? Maybe in the back of your mind you were worried about what happens if you want to re-sell. Or perhaps you are so used to living in rental properties you were afraid to make the changes you wanted. There are tons of ways to make your house feel like your home.
Hang Up Pictures
Putting pictures on the walls can seem scary and well, permanent. But it’s really quite simple and can always be moved or updated later. Personal photos, beloved artwork, and more go a long way to create a home you’ll love. With the right frames and layout you can create simple art walls that showcase your family, but also look professional and beautiful.
Paint Some Walls
Paint is not permanent. Contrary to popular belief, if you hate the paint, you can always paint over it. You can paint it back. You can even update it to a new color if the one you picked goes out of style. Accent walls are still popular. You can paint entire rooms one color or even create feature walls with either paint or wallpaper. For just a few hundred dollars you can transform the look of your entire home with just a few cans of paint.
Put Up Curtains
Mini-blinds are ugly, boring, and while they serve a purpose, they shouldn’t be the only thing on your windows. Curtains go the extra mile. They help block out light when needed, they look beautiful and add to the aesthetic of your room, and they can be easily changed to create a new look in any room. For bedrooms, blackout curtains are best because they can improve the quality of your sleep at night. The good news is that you can easily find beautiful curtains from places like Ikea and Target.
Un Pack Everything
This is an exhausting process, but it’s critical to making your new home feel like your home and not a rental. Don’t just store boxes away (unless it’s your Christmas or other seasonal décor). Unpack everything and find a home for it. Even if you end up repacking some things for later use, at least you opened everything up and found what you needed and what you didn’t.
Don’t Worry About Resale
If you plan to be in your new home for several years, it’s more important for you to style and live in it now. Find colors, designs, and more that suit your needs. If you want vibrant colors and boho style décor, don’t be afraid to do it. You can always change it back to a simpler look when the day comes that you do decide to sell.
Get Seasonal Décor
Seasonal décor is a fun way to add personality throughout the year. Whether you turn your home into a Christmas wonderland, or add bright colors come springtime, seasonal décor adds a lot of personality to a home. Some people love to decorate for each of the different holidays and this helps them create a warm and inviting atmosphere to host parties. These unique decorations that only come out during certain times of the year add a fun and unique flavor to any home.
Grow Plants
Plants literally add life to your home. Find a sunny window and start an indoor herb garden or grow some orchids. Plants are beautiful and are shown to improve your mental health. If you’re heading into menopause, plants can help boost your mood naturally. Many people choose menopause supplements as well to help them feel better. A home with plants in it will be a peaceful and welcoming place for you to relax in at the end of the day.
Invite People Over
There’s nothing like a housewarming party to make your house feel like a home. Finish up your painting projects and get everything put away. When you’re done, plan a fun potluck or BBQ to welcome your family and friends to your new place. Having guests over always makes a house feel like home. When you get moved in to your new place, it also helps you show people around and get a tour of your home.
