Hello World! Welcome Friends! If you haven’t tried adding some antique home decor into your home’s interior design, then we suggest you do so! The antique decor is a great way to add character and personality to your home. The best thing about it is that you can find antique furniture pieces, artwork, and so much more.
When it comes to finding the best antique decor for your home, your options are endless. What you’ll want to decide, however, is if you want to transform the entire house, one room, or a section of a room.
Take some time to think about that while reading through our list of some of the best antique home decor ideas!
Continue reading below to learn about antique home decorations.
1. Leather Trunk Over a Persian Rug
An antique leather trunk works well as a coffee table in the living room. It’s a great way to add that antique touch without having to transform or switch out all your furniture pieces. To tie it all together, you can place it over a Persian rug.
The great thing about this idea is that the leather trunk opens up and can hold your extra throw blankets, board games, the remote controls, and more.
2. Tin Sign Wall Display
When you think antiques and vintage, you most likely imagine a few old tin signs. You know, the ones you see pickers finding in old garages. These signs range from old Coca-Cola signs to old motel or garage signs.
You can find these signs in a variety of sizes as well. There are large signs and small signs. A great idea is to take a variety of tin signs and hang them on a wall to create a tin sign wall display.
Don’t feel the need to keep them all in a perfect line or to hang them with any type of organization. Hang them sporadically, and place an old-school jukebox in the front of the wall.
3. Vintage Door Headboard
If you’ve ever watched home renovation shows on TV, then you’ve most likely seen them take random items that you’d think would be useless and turn them into something amazing! Taking antique furniture and transforming it into something you never think of is one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment.
One example is to take a vintage door and turn it into a headboard in the bedroom. Take two antique doors and paint them to match your bedroom decor. Hang them side by side as the headboard.
You can even use this same method with antique windows as well. Break the glass out and try placing fabric where the glass would be. Be sure to hire professionals when moving antique furniture to prevent possible damage, as these items can be fragile.
Hang an antique chandelier as the main light fixture.
4. Vintage Suitcase End Table
Most vintage suitcases are around the same size. They’re slim rectangular boxes that come in a variety of colors. Although you can’t get too much use out of them for an actual suitcase (there’s practically no room in them compared to modern suitcases), you can get some other use out of them.
Instead, stack two on top of one another and install four legs into the bottom. You can now use them as a side table or end table in your living room or bedroom. A pot with a plant and a world globe is the perfect item to place on the top.
5. Wooden Crates
Wooden crates are a great way to add antique flair in any home. You can use them in your home office to store important documents. You can use them in your bedroom at the footboard as an ottoman to hold spare blankets in.
You can also use them in your living room as a coffee table. The decision is yours to make, but no matter what you decide, there’s no doubt it’ll look amazing.
6. Vintage Decor Gallery Wall
There’s no storage on vintage decor. You can find all sorts of different vintage decor items. Try finding a vintage mirror, an old photo of your city’s town square, an antique scale, and more. For example, adding french antique mirrors could really change the dynamic of the rooms in your home.
Then, bring all of these items together to create a vintage decor gallery wall. It’s similar to the tin sign wall, but this wall will feature a variety of items, not just signs.
To bring the look together, you can place a vintage entryway table in front of the wall and add some antique items on it that you can’t hang.
7. Mudroom Antique Lockers
If you have a mudroom in your home, then you’ll want to try this next idea. A mudroom with antique lockers for your storage is something unique and is sure to get plenty of attention from guests.
Think about a set of tall, old-school gym lockers. Place these in your mudroom and be sure to include a bench as well. When you come home, you can sit on the bench, remove your shoes and coat and place all the items inside the lockers.
8. Candelabra Sconces
Candelabra sconce lights are a great way to bring an antique feel to a room. Candelabras on their own are enough to make a room feel centuries old, but when you install them onto the walls as sconces, it brings everything together.
A great room to do this in is the bathroom or bedroom. In the bathroom, you can hang one on either side of the mirror. In the bedroom, you can hang one on either side of the headboard.
