Hello World! Welcome Friends! Moving is always hard, but when you only have a week to pack up your entire home, it feels impossible. Moving in seven days is doable, but requires a bit more hustle and a few shortcuts to get you there. These seven tips will have you boxed up and out the door in a week.
1. Make a List
Getting organized is the first, and most important, thing you should do. Without a clearly defined plan, you are not likely to make that seven day deadline. Make a checklist of supplies with this printable list. Understand that you’ll need to take your home room by room and assign a person to each area is key. Managing your family or helpful friends will make the process efficient and fast.
2. Call the Professionals
When you only have a week to be out of your home and into a new one, there is simply no way to do it without hiring help. After your list is complete, get in touch with packing service specialists who can get you out of your home quickly.
3. Get Rid of Stuff
There are items in your house that you will never again use. Moving these will cost you time and money. Purge your possessions of items you do not want or need. Unfortunately, your tight schedule gives you little time to sell these things. You can donate your unwanted items to a charity for a tax write off and toss what is too worn to be donated.
4. Make an Essentials Box
Before you pack up your entire home, make a box of essential items you will need at your current home and the first few days after moving. These include things like toiletries, paper towels, cleaning supplies, chargers, toilet paper, bedding, towels and a few necessary clothing items. Preparing a box with everything you need means that you will not be desperately searching through packed boxes looking later.
5. Pack Breakables First
The first things you want to pack are all fragile items. These are the most time consuming items to pack because of the care and extra wrapping needed. Getting all of your fragile items packed up first means that as the week progresses, you will be able to pack your remaining things as haphazardly and quickly as you need to keep on schedule without worrying about damage.
6. Multipurpose Packing
You can maximize your packing space by having your items perform double duty. Blankets, sheets and towels are perfect for padding delicate dishware and decor. You can use furniture with drawers to hold miscellaneous items that do not need special handling.
7. Take Breaks
With a week deadline looming over your head, you may be tempted to pull all-nighters. Don’t give in to this panic. In order to do your best, you need a few hours of sleep. Skipping out on breaks and sleep will leave you too exhausted to think straight and may actually end up costing you time.
With the right planning, help and moving strategy, you can be on your way to your new place in a week. Stay calm, try not to panic and remember the stress is temporary.
