Hello World! Welcome Friends! Please welcome Erum Rizvi to the site today!
Warmer months are up ahead and it’s important to make a few changes at home to make it more comfortable as the temperatures rise. Most of these changes involve cleaning because, for sure, the colder months made you think that cleaning was not necessary since you rarely got dirty and sweaty.
But, with spring just around the corner, refreshing your home is a must and to make this an easier task to tackle, here is a list of the things that you really need to do.
1. Clean your HVAC system
You will start using your air conditioning more as the days get warmer and you want to make sure that your AC and fans are working well. Otherwise, not only will the system perform less efficiently at creating an ideal interior temperature for your home, but it can drive up your electricity bill as well.
For a thorough cleaning of your HVAC system, you will need the pros’ help. Call an AC maintenance service to take care of this task. Not only will they clean your system, but they will also conduct a checkup to see if all the components of the AC are still intact, or if some require repair or a replacement.
2. Vacuum beds and replace heavy bed linen
Put the thick blankets and comforters in the wash and store them away until the arrival of fall when it gets nippy again. Freshen up your beds by vacuuming them and flipping them over so you can use the other side. Afterwards, cover them with thinner sheets and blankets.
3. Wash all the windows
These definitely got quite dirty during the cooler months (especially if you experienced snow or rain). Clean your windows inside out and improve illumination by letting more natural light flood into your home.
4. Unclog those gutters
Make this a half-day project for one weekend. You need to clear your gutters and downspouts of dead foliage and all kinds of debris. Spring can bring some rain and the last thing you want is for the pathways that direct water away from your home to be blocked. This can lead to flooding in your basement and even leaks inside your home.
5. Dust everywhere
Use a wet cloth to pick up dust and other kinds of dirt. Professional home cleaners advise going around a room in a circle — starting from the high points of the room and making your way down.
For the most effective dusting, use those Swiffer dusters that have been proven effective to pick up dust and debris. Also, use a vacuum with HEPA filters afterwards. And lastly, get rid of dust in the air using an air purifier.
6. Replace rugs and carpets
These are major dust attractants and they need to be replaced in time for spring because spring is likely to bring in more allergens at home. It’s always better to welcome the new season with clean rugs and carpets even if they will get quite dirty over time. This will still have a major impact on the quality of the air at home.
7. Organize
Declutter your home big time. Get rid of winter décor and rearrange your furniture and appliances not only to give your home a fresh look but also to make regular cleanups much easier.
Making sure that everything has a place and everything is in proper order will also improve the flow of activities in your home. Typically, in the spring, families get really busy. Therefore, it will be to your household’s great advantage to have clean spaces to comfortably move around in, and organized items to help you accomplish day-to-day tasks effectively and efficiently.
A Fresh Home for Spring
There you have it, seven of the most important tasks to perform in order to prepare your home for the shift to warm weather. This may seem like a lot of things to do but they are all actually quite easy to get around to.
Plus, you do not have to get all of these done in one day. You can dedicate a couple of weekends for these spring cleaning chores, or any convenient time you find. The key here is to tackle everything in bite-sized chunks and before you know it, you are completely done with all the tasks.
