Hello World! Welcome Friends! Living in places with hot summer months or a humid climate can be unbearable if you have poor ventilation. But that shouldn’t be something you have to live with. Staying in a house with an uncomfortable temperature can be detrimental to your health. Thus, you must take necessary action to ensure all your rooms remain cool during warmer seasons.
However, most homes have several rooms and, sometimes, more than one floor. So, how should you create a cool breeze that you can feel in every room? Here are a couple of ideas you can apply:
1. Invest in Multi-Split Air Conditioners
Some homeowners make the mistake of buying multiple individual air conditioning units for every room they have. Not only is this impractical, but it can make your monthly electric bill skyrocket to unimaginable heights. But if you switch your standalone ACs with a multi-split unit, you could save money and cool your home more effectively.
Multi-split ACs work well at cooling several rooms at once by having one primary outdoor condenser connected to the evaporators inside. Some brands may also offer eco-friendly options if you prefer a device that doesn’t harm the environment directly. A Daikin aircon, for example, has multi-split models that are energy-efficient and fit in any home. You may install as many evaporators as you need, depending on the number of rooms you have.
Consider this type of air conditioner unit if you want a more effortless method to lower the temperature indoors. It’s a wise investment and helps cool down as many as four rooms at a time. You can contact this air conditioning company, or research which companies near you produce the most sustainable models. Then, you can ask for a quote and have it installed as soon as possible.
2. Keep Unused Rooms’ Doors and Windows Closed
You may have learned that opening the windows and doors may help cool your home. But keeping every entrance open, especially during the day, will only add more heat. As such, it’s better to close them in the mornings or when you’re not using the room.
Additionally, if your rooms have vents, keep them closed, too. Your air conditioner will have an easier time cooling the area if the cold air has nowhere to escape. A/Cs work harder to lower the temperature of multiple warm rooms. So, if you only open the doors and vents of the rooms you’re using or occupying, your air conditioning unit will only spend enough energy to cool a few needed spaces.
3. Open Windows at Night
Once the sun sets, it should be less challenging to cool down multiple rooms in your home, even with the aircon units turned off. Use the opportunity to open the windows since the air at night is often much cooler than in the day. Even small windows can let in a desirable cold evening breeze once opened.
It’s best to check if your windows are still in good condition before leaving them open at night. Windows that need replacing bring more disadvantages than benefits. Thus, you must inspect every window to ensure no other problems will arise in your efforts to cool your home.
4. Install Exhaust Fans
Certain rooms are naturally warmer than others, like your kitchen or bathroom. Due to this, homeowners often put exhaust fans in these places. Exhaust fans are instrumental in a home, whether or not you have A/Cs. With the proper ventilation, steam from a hot bath or the stove will have somewhere to go and keep rooms cool as a result.
5. Use Floor Fans
Even if you have air conditioning, you can have a few floor fans at home along with your A/C units. Together, they can efficiently cool multiple rooms quickly. The floor fans will blow cool air around and into adjacent rooms. These appliances are also affordable and suit any home.
You could even cool down a room that doesn’t have air conditioning faster with a floor fan. For instance, you have a room with an A/C and would like to lower the room’s temperature next door. You’ll have to close any openings in the first room aside from the entrance to the second. Then face the floor fan directly towards the entrance of the space you’d like to cool. The wind from the fan will pull the cold air from the AC to the other room that needs cooling.
6. Get a Dehumidifier
Another affordable technique you can do is to buy a few dehumidifiers. Humidity causes that sticky feeling on the skin and makes a room much warmer. A dehumidifier in your hottest rooms can reduce the humidity indoors and avoid issues like mold growth and an overheating body.
7. Switch Your Lightbulbs
Unbeknownst to many, the type of lightbulbs you use at home could affect the overall temperature indoors. If you’re still using incandescent lightbulbs, it’s time to replace them with LED bulbs. The former type emits too much energy, which often adds to the indoor heat of a home. On the other hand, the latter only emits up to 90% less heat without sacrificing illumination.
Replacing all your old and failing lightbulbs should be one of your top priorities when cooling the rooms of your home. Not only do incandescent bulbs cause more heat, but they are also more fragile and require more energy to work.
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
Warm homes are dreadful in the summer. But thanks to modern tools like air conditioning and electric fans, you have more options to reduce the temperature of all your rooms. In addition to cooling devices, smart and careful planning will ensure your home stays chilly on hot, sunny days.
