Hello World! Welcome Friends! Love languages are funny things. They can be challenging to understand at first, but once you know both your and your partner’s love languages, you’ll deepen your relationship. One of the hardest love languages to speak is Acts of Service, as it entails doing something small for your partner to make them happy. With over half of all households working to remodel their homes, you’ll likely find something small to complete so you can surprise them with a job well done.
1. Dress Up Your Patio
You don’t have to put a lot of effort into your patio or back porch to make it look amazing. If you want a superior seating area, dress it up with fairy lights and plants. You might choose to upgrade some of the furniture. If you plan to do a full-scale remodel of your patio, try to do it when your partner is out of town or away for a few hours so you have enough time to set everything up.
Also, if you want to add a little jazz to your concrete pad, consider stenciling it. You can stencil fun patterns onto your concrete to make it appear more modern and sleeker. If it looks like tile, you may find that your patio is more welcoming than if it looked like cold concrete. Plus, you can find plenty of accents like pillows and throw blankets to bring out the colors in your stenciled pattern.
2. Replace the Showerhead
One of the simplest upgrades you can make to your home is to change out your showerhead. Using an updated, eco-friendly showerhead can give you better water pressure while saving the amount of water you use in your daily shower. While it may seem like a small change, using only two gallons of water per minute instead of two and a half can add up, depending on how long your showers are.
You can opt for one with a detachable extension or even a rainfall-like showerhead. Choose something that fits the vibe of your bathroom and can also help you save money in the long run. Read packages and specifications thoroughly before picking out a showerhead for your bathroom.
3. Spruce Up Your Bathroom
You don’t have to undertake a full-scale renovation to make your bathroom look new. Consider having everything match your color scheme for the room. You can change out rugs and hang up hand towels that match your shower curtain. If it’s been a while since you changed things up, change the shower curtain to something entirely new. Let the rest of the room fall into place around it.
If you want to add a bit of luxury to your bathroom without much effort, consider framing your mirror. You can paint wood to match the color of your bathroom cabinets, then attach the frame to the wall around your mirror. This idea works great if your bathroom mirror doesn’t have a frame already, and it ties your cabinet colors into things higher on the wall.
4. Do Something Small Without Telling Them
While all of these projects should be completed without them asking you, you should aim to keep some things a secret from them. It may be more difficult to keep things from your partner if you live together. Since you don’t want them to know what you’re doing, you’re a bit limited to small projects.
Consider waking up extra early to clean their car before they head to work so they have something nice to look at and think about as soon as they walk out the door. You can plan out meals for the week or gather a household binder together.
5. Plant a Garden
Gardens take a lot of work and upkeep, but when they’re taken care of, they give you a return on your investment that is incredible. Whether your partner has experienced interest in starting a garden or doesn’t care about growing their own produce, they’ll be grateful when the food starts growing and you have plenty of veggies for your kitchen table.
Do your research beforehand. Figure out which crops grow well in your climate and the planting season you’re considering. Then, you may have to build boxes to grow things in if you can’t dig deep enough for some plants.
6. Refresh the Front Door
Having a bright door can help your home stand out and increase your curb appeal. Classic colors like black and gray are always great and welcoming, but a pop of color can draw people’s eyes and cost less than renovating an entire room. Play around with color and see what you like. Be sure to consider your partner’s likes and dislikes, too.
7. Use Contact Paper
Contact paper is a handy tool for renters who can’t make permanent changes to their living space or homeowners who want a different look without investing too much money. It rests directly on top of your existing countertops. You can find contact paper in just about any pattern or material, meaning that you can match just about any countertop. Marble is always a good option, so you can use marble contact paper to see how you like it before committing to a full remodel.
Similarly, you can rely on wallpaper to dress up a wall in your house. Help one of your walls stand out as an accent by changing it up from the rest of the walls. Just find an agreeable print that matches the rest of your walls and decorations, or everything will clash. When done right, wallpaper can look impressive and gorgeous.
Do Something Nice for Your Partner
A partner with an Acts of Service love language can leave you stumped sometimes. You often want to do things for your partner, but you have to be careful, as it means so much more when you do things without being asked. If you totally want to surprise your partner, doing something small to improve the appearance of your home is the way to go. They’ll likely love the new look and feel so good that you considered their preferences, too.
