Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your carpet will eventually become prey of spills, accidents, spews, dirt and mud on the bottom of shoes or stuffs your pet carries in, regardless of your intention and best efforts. A professional carpet cleaning company plays an important role in extending the life of it. However, it is not feasible to hire their services every other day. So, if you are wondering how to keep the carpets clean in between, we have got the right thing for you – carpet cleaning tips shared by experts and professionals. Here they go:
Do Not Rub the Stain, Dab It Instead
Rubbing the stain can cause the particles to spread further into the carpet’s fibers, which can lead to early damage of the carpet. Therefore, blot or dab the stain outside in with a cleaning solution and clean cloth or sponge using a small amount of pressure on the area.
Vinegar and Water Process
Mix one part of vinegar and one part of water, and spray the mixture in the stained area. Let it rest for 15 minutes. Then, using a clean sponge, dab out the solution and stain. Rinse the spot with warm water and spread dry paper towels on it for a day to absorb extra moisture. You can also use club soda in the same manner to remove wine and beer stains.
Freeze the Gum
Chewing gum can be a sticky mess. If it accidentally sticks on your carpet, place a couple of ice cubes on the gum and let it freeze for 45 seconds. Once frozen, lift the gum using a spoon or tweezers and cut the strands of the carpet closer to the gum. To make sure this doesn’t repeat, wipe your shoes on your doormat before entering.
If you have stubborn stains and gum that just won’t budge, check out Dr. Gum for extra help in removing those unsightly issues.
Detergent for Grease
Grease stains are very tough to get rid of. However, you can do with a drop or two of undiluted detergent or dishwasher. Spray the solution on the greasy stain and blot it up with a wet cloth or sponge. You may have to repeat the steps to remove tough grease. If you don’t have time to do this, you may want to hire a home cleaning service.
Apply Hot Iron for Wax
If you use a lot of candles around your house, you cannot stop unplanned wax dripping onto the carpet. Wax is usually quick to dry. Hence, the best way to remove it is by using a hot iron. Place a white cloth over the wax. Then place a hot iron on top of it to warm it. Remove the warm wax by scraping it with a knife. Do not use the iron more than 30 seconds to avoid burning the carpet’s surface.
Remove Blood Stain with Hydrogen Peroxide
Paper cuts can cause unavoidable blood drips on to the carpet. To clean it, loosen the dried up blood with detergent and water. Blot up or scrape off the blood as much as possible. For the lingering stain, pour hydrogen peroxide directly on the blood and dab the solution with a paper towel or clean cloth.
Deep Clean it Regularly
Steam clean the carpet regularly to keep it odorless and spic n span. Steam cleaning involves vacuuming the area using a clean solution. The solution is water-jetted deep into the carpet and then the machine draws out the solution along with dirt and debris. The deep penetration of water will loosen any dirt, grease, embedded soil, and other filth deposit.
Deep clean your carpet every quarter and remove stains as soon as you spot them. Let us know which tips helped you the most in the comments below.

These are great tips, Kathryn… and the blotting tip makes a whole lot of sense! I’ve also heard that using a paper bag with an iron can remove wax as well. Thanks for sharing at TTA!

For me, dealing with grease stains, and also learning how not to rub but dab at stains should prove most useful. I love my new dining room carpet and want it to live (relatively) forever. Thanks for sharing your tips at Fiesta Friday!

Thanks for the great tips, usually I can get most of the spills or stains out but this might help make it look like nothing ever happened. I’ve had it bad in the past where I’ve had to hire a professional but this might help me avoid that for a while. https://www.deltachemdrycarpetcleaning.com/why-professional-cleaners/
