Hello World! Welcome Friends! Every year, many people are victims of crime in their homes. The most common type of crime is burglary, where the culprit forcibly enters the home to steal belongings. Here are 6 things that you can do to make your house safer and avoid any type of crime.
1. Security Screen Doors and Locks
Many burglaries take place because the culprit enters the home through a door or window. One of the first things to do is install security screen doors and locks on all external doors and windows. You can use Central Screens & Locks if you want quality products to keep your home safe. These prevent forced entry and can sometimes be hard for criminals to open because they’re designed with stronger materials than standard doors. They’re also more secure because you can’t slip a hand through to undo a latch from outside like you could with a standard fly screen door. Locks should be solid, not flimsy latches that are easy to break.
2. Alarm System and Security Lighting
If you’re away from your house for a long period, it’s worth installing an alarm system to make sure that your home is protected. The alarm will sound if someone tries to get in and will notify the police immediately. It’s also worth having security lighting around the outside of your house and at any entrance points (like front and back doors). These should be motion-activated, so they only come on when anyone approaches who doesn’t live there. Burglars don’t want to draw attention to themselves, so this type of lighting can be a very effective deterrent.
3. CCTV Cameras
A CCTV camera is another great way to protect your property from criminals. They work 24 hours a day, capturing footage of any people or vehicles that arrive at your house. You can then check the footage to see who’s been on your property and what they’ve done, so you’re notified straight away if anything looks suspicious. If you have an alarm system with CCTV cameras, this is very effective because it will capture any intruders’ faces clearly.
4. Keep Valuables Out of Sight
If you have something valuable inside your home, it’s worth keeping them in an area where they can’t be easily seen from outside the house (like through a window). This also includes hiding outdoor key storage boxes under bushes or plants, so criminals can’t find them easily.
5. Involve the Police and Community In Crime Prevention
One way to reduce burglaries is by involving your local police and community in crime prevention techniques. The more people who know what’s going on around them, like suspicious behavior or people loitering near homes, the safer your locality will be. If you see anything that looks out of the ordinary, it’s always worth reporting it to the police, so they can make sure everything is ok and send a patrol car around if necessary. This also means criminals are less likely to commit crimes like burglary because someone may notice them, or they might get caught quickly after committing an offense (like stealing from a house).
6. Don’t Advertise that You’re Away
Many burglars commit the act because they know your home is unoccupied, so if you’re going to be away for a long period, it’s worth hiding this from the outside world. One way to do this is by going away for short periods and gradually extending that time until you’re actually going to be away. This makes it harder for burglars to know when your home will be empty, so they’re less likely to break in.
Once you’ve done all this, your home should be a lot safer and there should be much less risk of criminal activity taking place. These are all great ways to make sure that your home is kept safe and secure while you’re away or inside it, so you can live in peace without worrying about the safety of your family or possessions.
