Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your yard is your haven. It’s where you can go to relax and unwind after a hard day at work, to entertain friends, or just sit on your porch and take in the scenery. There are many ways that you can improve your backyard; here are six ideas you could put into action today:
Create An Outdoor Sauna
Take elements from this Finnish tradition and bring them to your outdoor area in a fantastic way. Start by hiring a professional to build an outdoor sauna out of wood or stone. You can heat it up using a fire pit or the grill if you want, just be sure that it is elevated off the ground so you can use rocks to generate steam. Then step inside and relax as you sweat all of the stress out of your body. Once you are done, cool off in a nearby outdoor pool or jacuzzi, then dry yourself by jumping into an outdoor shower that uses cold water only.
If you do your research, there are professionals who can install an outside sauna for you at a very cool rate. If you are looking for an easy way to stand out from the crowd, consider building a dry sauna by your backyard pool. With this setup, friends can relax in the steam room after swimming instead of taking separate showers. To build this, place a wood-framed cedar gazebo in your backyard. Then add a wood stove and insulation to the inside of it, which will keep it warm during cold nights. In front of the structure, add a bench that overlooks your pool or hot tub, then string up some shower heads from the ceiling so you can take a post-swim shower when you’re done.
Have A Home Grown Garden
You don’t have to be a botanist to grow food at home. Decide on a small section of your backyard and plant vegetables or fruit trees. To keep pests away, you can plant lavender, rosemary, basil, and mint around the garden. If animals are a problem, create a fence to contain them outside of the designated area. When it comes time to harvest your product, invite friends over for some home-grown goodness. Homegrown gardens not only save money on grocery bills, but they can also be a lot of fun.
Have A Hammock Step Area
Hammocks are great, but it can be difficult to find trees that are far apart enough to string one up between them. For this reason, you should consider building a hammock strap step. This is made by cutting two pieces of plywood into 2″ strips and then screwing them together. You can then place these on your lawn and string up a hammock between the straps. Later, when you don’t feel like sleeping in it anymore, the step can be folded down into an easy-to-store square that hangs from a single hook.
Create A Fire Pit And Outdoor Lounge
Most people only think of a fire pit as a way to keep warm and cook food. However, they make great accessories for socializing during the warmer months too. You can find one that is designed to go with any decor design inside or outside your home, allowing you to create an outdoor living space where you like to hang out. To create this area, you can dig out an area in your backyard for a fire pit and line the sides with rocks. Here you will want to string up a hammock and fill the area with lounge chairs or build a small bar.
There are many styles to choose from such as stone-built or metal designs. No matter what look you go for, it should make you feel cozy while providing extra seating and lighting in your outdoor lounge area. The space around the fireplace should be big enough for guests to stand and enjoy its warmth, while also allowing them to watch TV and sit on plush couches without overcrowding the area.
Create A Koi Pond With Artificial Waterfall
When you make your backyard look more like a resort than an extension of your house, it can be difficult to ignore the itch to get outside. The best way to encourage yourself and others to spend more time in this area is to build a Koi pond. You can design it with or without an artificial waterfall, but the main idea here is to make it big enough for fish and attractive enough for everyone who sees it to want to take a dip. An artificial waterfall kit will give you a head start, but if money is no object you can opt for a natural rock waterfall.
Build a Pergola
When you have limited outdoor space, you might feel like you cannot create separate areas of your yard. However, there is a way to make this happen: build a pergola. This structure looks best when it has vines and plants growing up the sides and across the top, allowing you to transform your backyard into several small gardens that are all connected by one structure. You can even add a small porch if you want, complete with a porch swing. Pergolas are easy to build but keep in mind that they are also very heavy.
These are just a few ideas that you can use to turn your backyard into a private resort. Having a backyard with nice features can be great fun if you do it right. The ideas mentioned here are only the beginning, so you should explore more creative ways to come up with even more ways to enjoy your outdoor space.
