Hello World! Welcome Friends! There are more than just a few ways you can upgrade your home without spending a fortune. If you love DIY projects, you probably know this can save you money. With good planning, you can easily transform the look and feel of your home on a budget. Whether it’s by simply updating your kitchen with some new stylish flower pots or as complex as giving the walls an entirely new finish, you don’t have to break the bank to do so.
Here are 6 clever ways you can upgrade your home affordably.
1. Refresh Look of the Walls
One of the most basic ways you can boost your home’s curb appeal without spending much is to give your washed-out walls a touch of brilliance. One way to do so is to apply a fresh coat of paint. Repainting can be a powerful a powerful addition to your indoor space as it goes a long way in rekindling the interior beauty and makes it feel cozier. This can be an easier way to rearrange your indoor atmosphere without really having to make structural changes.
Interestingly, painting doesn’t require you to be a pro. Most wall paints and finishes come with easy-to-follow instructions that you can use to do the project DIY. Wallpaper and peel-and-stick wall panels are also awesome alternative options that you can use transform the look of your walls by adding character and texture.
2. Update the Look of Your Kitchen Cabinets
The kitchen is among the most important rooms in your home. For kitchen cabinets that are looking dark and faded but are structurally in good condition, you don’t need to replace the entire thing. You can resurrect the gloom by adding a coat of bright textured paint that compliments the rest of your indoor décor. You can also upgrade your kitchen by replacing the existing hardware such as knobs and handles with more stylish and quality alternatives.
3. Work on the Stained Floor Grouts
The floor is one of the most conspicuous areas in a home. As a matter of fact, it is one of the first few things a visitor notices once they get into your home. In case you have tile flooring in your home, stained grout lines can be eye-catching. No matter home much effort you’ve put into interior décor, stained grouts can disrupt it unless you have them entirely covered by carpets. And cleaning grout lines by scrubbing is not the most interesting task. At least for the part of the tile flooring that is exposed to and the grout lines are stained, you can transform the look of your floor by using a grout pen to clean and restore your stained tile floor grouts.
4. Install an Easy-to-clean Backsplash to Protect Walls
Traditional tile backsplash may appear out of your DIY skills, so finding one that is made from a sheet of solid material can be a better option. You need to be creative to come up with adorable patterns first. You’ll then need to cut out your preferred shapes and glue them up onto the wall. Tile backsplash material is available in a variety of colors that you can pick to suit the palette you want to create.
5. Get a Programmable Thermostat to Cut Costs
Installing a programmable thermostat can be a sure way to increase your monthly energy savings. This is a digital device connected to the heating and cooling systems in your home, which is designed to control temperatures automatically. It is not only cost-effective to install this device; the upgrade also improves the convenience and comfort of your home.
6. Bathroom Vent Fan to Prevent Mold Growth
A ventilating fan not only clears fogged-up windows. It could also be useful in the prevention of moisture-related problems like mold and mildew, which could cost you a lot to get rid of. Mold is also a major trigger for respiratory problems and allergies. Having proper ventilation in your bathroom can help minimize the chances of mold growth.

I love the wallpaper you chose. I’m not usually a fan of wallpaper (not after the pain of removing some back in an old condo of mine in the 90’s), but I could seriously use and live with this one.
I just moved into my retirement home recently, the very first place I’ve actually had floor tile and floor grout… I will certainly look into a grout pen, as, yes, grout lines are darkening no matter what I’ve done so far.

The accent wall is a stencil I painted. So, if I ever get tired of it, all I need to do is paint over it. Thank you for dropping by for a visit.

Your home is so lovely Kathryn. I would love to paint my kitchen cabinets white, but I think I would give my hubby a coronary! 🙂 Still, we are always doing little things to keep our home fresh and clean. We have that same thermostat. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
