Hello World! Welcome Friends! Did you know the average couple will spend over $33,000 on their wedding?
That’s a gasp-worthy number, especially for couples on a tight budget. The good news is you don’t have to spend anywhere near that amount to have a beautiful, memorable wedding day.
In this post, we’ll give you some tips others have used to decorate wedding reception venues. They’re simple, elegant, creative, and, best of all, they won’t break the bank!
1. Add Candles & Lights
Don’t underestimate the effect of old-fashioned candlelight. After making sure your reception venue allows open flames, it’s time to go candle-shopping.
Choose a variety of sizes and styles, from tiny tealights to standalone pillar candles. You can use them in your centerpieces, hang them in lanterns, or place them in decorative votive holders.
String lights, paper lanterns, and even Christmas lights are also beautiful, inexpensive ways to create a warm atmosphere for your wedding reception.
2. Get Creative with Centerpieces
Who says you have to spend a million dollars on elaborate floral centerpieces? Lanterns, lamps, colorful glassware, or other decorative items work just as well (for a fraction of the price).
If you have your heart set on flowers, why not use your bridesmaids’ bouquets as centerpieces during the reception? It will keep your theme consistent and no one will know the difference.
3. Repurpose Ceremony Decor
Bouquets aren’t the only items you can reuse from the ceremony. Why spend extra time and money ordering duplicate items when the same thing can serve two purposes?
For example, you could place the ceremony’s backdrop behind your cake table. You could also use the same ceremony seating at the reception venue. Any greenery you use during the ceremony will add a fresh touch to your reception venue too.
4. Rent as Much as Possible
Did you know there are wedding rental companies that already have everything you need for a beautiful reception? From velvet couches to elegant candlesticks, you can probably rent those decorative items for much less than you’d spend if you bought them.
Once you’ve decided on the look you want (rustic, bohemian, etc), find a rental company that has already curated the items you want. And yes, these days there’s even the option for a luxurious porta potty rental for weddings!
5. Use Stuff You Already Own
Our final tip for decorating for a wedding is not to buy or rent at all. Instead, look through your home (or enlist the help of family and friends) to see what you already have.
Do you have pillows, chairs, rugs, wall decor, or tables that would look great at the reception venue? Throw it in a truck and haul it over! Not only does this save tons of money, but it gives a personal touch and makes the venue truly “yours” for the night.
Beautiful Wedding Reception Venues (On Any Budget)
Whether you’re having a reception in a community center, a barn, a park, or a backyard, you can make it look beautiful on any budget.
Lighting is everything, so use lots of candles and accent lights to set the mood. Repurpose decorative items from the ceremony and “think outside the flowers” for your centerpieces. It’s also worth considering renting necessary items or even using stuff you already have at home.
