Hello World! Welcome Friends! While we all try to keep our homes clean and tidy, there are many ways we can ensure our home is healthy to live in. Bacteria, dampness and mold, and pests can all lead to getting sick, and the last thing we want from our home is an illness. This guide offers some simple but effective tips for creating a healthier home.
Keep Hand Wash by Every Sink
Bacteria on your hands can cause all sorts of problems, you could get sick or even get a stye in your eye. In your home, you will have sinks in your bathrooms, kitchen, and even in other rooms such as the utility room or the garage. Keeping anti-bacterial hand wash at every sink, and replenishing it when it runs out, is the first step to keeping a healthy home as it encourages everyone to properly wash their hands – even if they’re not in the bathroom.
Let Fresh Air In
Unless you live in a very polluted city, the air inside your home is more polluted than the air outside. Open doors and windows on a daily basis to let fresh air into your home and keep the space well ventilated. If there are lots of insects where you live, invest in fly screens for your windows so that you can open them and let in fresh air but keep the bugs out.
Check for Mold
Mold isn’t just an eyesore in your home. Mold spores and the mycotoxins released by mold can cause serious health problems, with 25% of the population being predisposed to getting mold-related illnesses. Mold isn’t always visible in the home, so be sure to check behind furniture and walls and in crawl spaces – especially if there is a musty smell. If you find mold, small amounts can be dealt with easily but large amounts may require professional help and even the removal of walls.
Don’t Rely on Plants
Plants in your home can reduce stress and make your space look great. These are two very good reasons to live with plants. But don’t rely on them to purify or filter your air. It’s a popular myth that plants clean the air in your home, but recent studies have shown that they do not have a significant effect on removing pollutants in your home. While filling your home with plants is a great way to improve your happiness at home, they don’t replace the need to let in fresh air and remove mold.
Keep Out Pests
Pests in our home are many people’s worst nightmare. Not only do they make your home life uncomfortable, but they also spread disease. Pests look for food, water, and shelter, so there are simple steps you can take to keep pests out of your home. Seal cracks in the walls and floorboards, store food in pest-resistant containers, and cleaning up and throwing away uneaten food (including pet food) will keep your home pest-free.
A clean and healthy home will not only keep you healthier but will also give you peace of mind. Regular cleaning and tidying is the first step, but these five tips will ensure you have a healthier home that is comfortable and safe for you and your family.
