Hello World! Welcome Friends! Your choice of fencing can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of your small garden, so it makes sense to do your research beforehand and consider all the different options that are available. It’s worth bearing in mind that there is so much more to a garden fence than just aesthetics – you’ll also need to consider factors such as noise reduction, privacy, wind resistance and more. Remember, it’s best to go with a quality fencing company like Fencing Guys to ensure the job is completed properly.
We’ve put together a description of several different popular fencing types, to help you visualize the best one for your home.
#1. Contemporary Horizontal Lines:
If you want to choose a style of fencing that gives your garden a contemporary upgrade, then horizontal slats could be the best type of fence for your needs. There are a few different designs that you can choose from, including popular wide-slatted versions, that feature narrow gaps between timber battens. The use of horizontal lines is an ideal option if you’re working with a small garden, as they can widen the space. Strategic placement of tall, slim plants adds an interesting contrast and finishes off the modern touch nicely.
#2. Slim, Narrow Slats:
Alternatively, you could keep the horizontal effect but go for even thinner slats, which offer a similar look but with thinner battens that give a lighter feel – ideal for a really tiny, compact garden. If you’re going for this type of fencing, then opt for long slats that go around the entire perimeter of the garden for a flush, continuous effect.
#3. Space It Out:
If you want an even lighter look for your fencing, then opt for larger gaps in between the battens and opt for a fencing that comes in a pale shade, or one that you can paint in a light shade of your choice. Off-white panels, for example, can be an ideal choice if you want your fencing to contrast beautifully with darker furniture and wooden decking, or blend in with lighter furniture and plenty of greenery to make a smaller space feel wide, light and open.
#4. Standing Tall:
Of course, horizontal lines aren’t your only option – thin, slatted fences can also be vertical, which is a great idea if you want to add an illusion of height to a smaller fence or are considering using creeper plants on the fence to add a pop of greenery. Very thin timber battens in a vertical style can create a stunning, clean and modern effect in your garden, whether you opt for this for all your fencing or have a few panels contrasting with a horizontal design.
#5. Add an Angle:
Another option for horizontal fencing is a louvre style, which has slats set at a 45-degree angle. This is a great option if you are concerned about privacy in your garden, but don’t want to compromise on ventilation, as the angle allows air to circulate through the fence. This type of fencing is ideal for small, enclosed garden spaces as they also allow light to filter through while still making it difficult for anybody on the other side to see through into your garden.
