The Beautiful Art of Hanging Air Plants
Hanging air plants, also known as Tillandsias, are wonderful little plants that don’t need any soil! They are hardy and can survive with only a careful amount of light and watering.
You can find these things wherever you may find house plants for sale. How do you make them shine? Let me show you how!
1. Terrariums of Many Sizes
With the air plants not needing soil, you can display them in all sorts of areas of almost any size. A simple glass container is all you need.
There can be large scale terrariums with all sorts of air plants, or they can be little glass containers in all sorts of fun shapes. Display them on a shelf or in a table center for a nice little touch of green.
2. Wall Mounts
Displaying some nice air plants can be as simple as crafting them together into a little mosaic or scene. You can mount them onto any surface, so they make for wonderful combinations with dioramas and hanging art pieces.
3. Wire Hanging “Portrait”
Hanging plants from wires can be cumbersome, as the pot needed to sustain them can get in the way of the plant itself. This takes up space.
With air plants, you can wrap them in wire hangers to show off in a minimalist display. You can drape them like an organic chandelier or wrap them together on a flat board like an air plant portrait.
4. Organic Additions to Art
Sculptures can be wonderful additions to their houses. They can come in any number of aesthetics and design and add a beautiful third dimension to your art displays.
Most sculptures come from a type of stone and often don’t have a lot of color to them. You can tuck air plants into any crack or spot you can find, accompanying your art sculpture with a dash of color and a more rustic feel.
This can work on any art display and can add an organic feel to the art itself.
5. Organics on Organics
There is nothing to say that air plants can’t accompany other plants! A bit more greenery to a bouquet of flowers can balance out the vibrant colors.
This can also apply to other items. You can use seashells, coconuts, or even trimmed lumber as a pseudo pot to host your delightful air plants.
